The world seemed a little bit brighter in her eyes. She zipped her last and final suitcase with much enthusiasm as she shuffled over to force in the only 3 canvases she owned into a bag and smiled at her work.
"Elizabeth! They're here!" Shouted the co-worker. She was much more merciful than Mrs. Reina, but she never took the time to memorize know her name.
She arched the duffel bag over her shoulder and carried her canvases and painting supplies in her free hand.
She made it down the last few steps before the couple came visible to her sight. She smiled as rays of light grew brighter through the windows. She was unspeakably happy.
Jenna walked over and gave her a warming hug. She was the first to realize the slight change of the girls' eyes. A faint yellow consumed over her iris as Jenna stared intently in slight shock.
"Elizabeth? Your eyes..." She said, slightly above a whisper.
Her face paled and the golden shade immediately faded from her eyes as she gave a nervous chuckle. "Huh?" She asked even though she heard her loud and clear.
Jenna shook her head. "Never mind.. How about we get you home, yeah?"
"Yeah..."
Tyler came over with a grin. He ruffled the teens hair with a cheerful grin and saved her of the weights on her shoulders as they walked out of the damned building as a legal family.
Jenna knew what she saw, it was real, that's for sure. She just didn't know how to address something like that. Completely oblivious as to what just happened, Tyler tapped her shoulder. "Hey Jen... Jen."
She snapped her head to him and furrowed her eyebrows as to what he needed.
"In the next exit it says here that there's a Taco Bell. You in?" He informed while pointing to a well detailed map of all and every location they could possibly go.
Elizabeth was in the back seat of the black leather vehicle, sketching what all came to her mind. But it all sent out negative energy which lead to either a broken writing utensil or 3 word sentences with hidden meaning.
Jenna shook her head at that same time as the exits sign passed by in a multicolored green blur.
The car was silent. Not the awkward kind where even the slightest breath will send someone on edge. But the kind where a third person family could comfortably ride down the border of Indiana with silent hums coming from the driver.
Elizabeth found herself sighing in frustration at the failed results of her sketch. Closing the sketchbook shut she placed it down in the deserted seat next to her.
"Everything okay?'" Jenna asked, peaking over her shoulder to express her curiosity.
She sighed. "No, not really..."
"What's the matter?" Tyler chimed in.
"I tried sketching again. But when I put my thoughts into it, it goes to waste." She mostly mumbled, but her words echoed through the vehicle.
"Don't think about it." Tyler stated.
She thought about that before shifting her weight to only get the sight of the back of his head. "What do you mean?"
If you ever seen him speak, he puts visual in his words by the gestures of his hand. But they gripped the steering wheel so great it limited his options. He allowed his right hand to rest as the left hand took over and kept a steady pace on the road. "If you have trouble putting your thoughts-to-paper, let your instincts do it for you, let your mind free draw as you please."
His words where more than inspirational, they where the lead to her new creation. With a subtle grin and a new shimmer of hope, she replied, "thanks"
