Our shoes crunched dried leaves beneath our feet as we turned from school grounds to the city before us, vast and unknown to me. I allowed the raven beside me lead the way. He was shivering, hugging his sides. I gave him my jacket. His eyes scanned the crowd of people, some whom recognized him and waved.

He was searching for something.

Somewhere, if we're being precise.

"Where are we going?" I asked, watching cars pass by. His green eyes lit up once they found exactly what he wanted.
"Over there. By those trees." He said in a normal voice. No whispers, murmurs, or stutters. A steady voice that rang like bells in the air.
"Well, we're going to those trees, but you get the point." Yuuichiro explained, eyes darting side to side with his head. "Okay. Mikaela, run across the street... Now." He gave the order, and we burst across the street. A car passed behind us once we landed on the opposing sidewalk.

He stood in front of a large gate, fence reaching the ends of the two buildings it was in between. He pulled a key from beneath his collar, unlocking it with quick movements. The gate creaked open loudly. He locked it behind me, opening an electric panel, hitting a switch. Lights flickered to life on the floor. There was an army of trees and plants behind the gate.

A makeshift forest in the heart of the city.

"It's the school's. Once a family member from a certain country enrolls, a tree or plant is planted here for them. It's usually from their country, but since Min goes on her own, she's got a Venus Flytrap somewhere here." He explained, meeting my curious gaze. Yuichiro gestured me to follow him, and so I did.

We walked through the trees, my amazed eyes taking in every little detail of each plant. I ended up with a question for Yuuichiro once we found Alan's rose bush (his brother had a tree inherited from the family). He had placed one there to "make it look prettier", according to Yuuichiro.

"How come Tetsuya teases Alan and Marco as if they were a couple?" I pondered aloud. Yuuichiro's eyes widened for a split second as he processed the question and formed an answer.

"You would know if you were around for a week longer. But, uh... Marco very obviously loves Alan. Tetsuya's been talking to them like that because he's really oblivious to that fact."

Oh.

Well, that clears up a lot.

"Why is Chi so cheerful?"

"Still trying to figure that out." He joked. I laughed.

"Min doesn't want to be the next ruler of Korea, if you were going to ask why she tries to get into so much trouble." He said as we found her Venus Flytrap.

The largest tree was a cherry blossom. Yuuichiro's. Tetsuya had a tiny bonsai tree next to it.

"My mother was the one who had it planted." He mused, staring up at it. I placed a hand on the ancient bark, running a hand across it.

"This place is beautiful." I whispered, a ghost of words compared to what this place must hold.

"I thought you'd like it, since you seem to be really interested in the countries." He said sheepishly.
"And yet, I'm horrible at World History." I joked. He laughed, flushing a pale pink. My cheeks burned at the innocent sight of him.
The sound of his laughter.

"You seem to be doing well in Literature. Even though you're reading the Iliad."
"Greek mythology is amusing. It's mostly the Gods seeing how much they can make the mortals' lives a living hell."

"and Zeus cheating on Hera." He fired back.
"I don't get why no one's overthrown Zeus. He's a piece of trash." I angrily muttered, brows furrowing.
