Love.

noun \ˈləv\

(1) strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties.
(2) attraction based on sexual desire.
(3) affection based on admiration, benevolence, or common interests.

According to Webster's dictionary, that's the definition of love. The second definition, I knew deep in my heart, did not apply to my newfound emotion. The others were debatable, moreover. I knew I was attached to Yuu. Maybe even attracted, for all I knew. From what Iris said to me, I was almost certain I loved my friend. The dictionary stated that it was a possibility.

Yes, I looked up the definition of love.

That's normal, right?

Hm... I should look that up, too.

"A job?" I asked, looking at Min in confusion. Yuu stiffened to my side, which had caused me to glance over do him curiously. His emerald eyes were worried as he stared at the almond shaped eyes countering his gaze with a mischievous look.
"Yeah, you don't seem to have a lotta money. Makes me wonder how 'ya got in here, but it doesn't matter if everyone in the school loves you." She drawled, ignoring the eyes still bearing into her dyed head.
"You're right on that. But what can you do about it?" I asked, leaning across the table.

"Nothing Illegal, of course." Min said, but it was forced. She seemed to want to get me a job breaking the law.
"I'll take what I can get." I sighed, hands resting on the table.
"If she tells you to rob a bank, don't listen." Chi advised me, sliding into a table with an entire roast. He had just gotten back from Physical Education, and everyone around him (including us) stared at it, obviously appalled.
"I won't but.. Are you going to eat all of that?" I asked.
"Of course I am." He said, looking at me as if I was crazy.

"Only Chi can get away with taking an entire roast from the cafeteria." Alan sighed, sitting down next to me, Marco sitting next to him.
"Well, he is friends with almost everyone in the academy." He pointed out, fixing the glasses that had slipped down to the bridge of his nose.
"You've got a point there." The former nodded.

"I don't known what Min's going to find for you, but she knows the city better than all of us." Yuu sighed to my left, Looking at me with a sidelong gaze.
"So I have to go with whatever she says?"

"Yes. That's exactly it. She may seem a little strange, but she knows what she's doing." He explained.

"Please go with me if she decides to take me somewhere."

He laughed, my cheeks growing hot at the carefree sound.

"I will, don't worry."

The rest of the school day had passed without incident or news from Min. The only thing worth mentioning was Iris.

I had a question about the book we were reading, and was about to enter her classroom, book in hand. The cracked door froze when my eye caught her hunched over on her desk, hand pushing hair from her face, the other holding a phone to her ear. Something told me- a feeling in the pit of my stomach, presumably- that I shouldn't interrupt.
"It's been two days. C'mon, love, just pick up." Her quiet voice reached my ears. She sighed. Pulling her phone from her ear, dialing a number again. I watched her repeat the same routine six times before she got a reply on the other end. Her eyes lit up, hand falling from her head and to the ring glistening in the setting sun that shone through her window.
"Luke, you're fine." She breathed in relief.  "How are you? Why weren't you weren't able to pick up yesterday?" She sent the other line a bombardment of questions. Luke laughed loud enough that I could hear. A deep and rough voice, far different from everyone I had befriended, since they all had accents. I could very distantly hear the joyful rumbling of his voice as he explained something to Iris. She was smiling the entire time, nodding along to his words.
"That has got to be the strangest day you've had without me experiencing it with you." She laughed, scratching at her head.
"Well, I mean, you almost flew into a building. That's gotta be hilarious no matter the circumstances." I heard Luke say something to defend himself on the other line. She laughed once more, fixing her glasses as she leaned back in the leather seat.
"Suure." She still had a smile on her lips.

As I stared through the crack of the door with wide eyes, my bracelet casting a reflection on the wall of the literature classroom wall, listening to Iris's end of the conversation, I had a realization.

This was what love is.

And it was far too similar to how I acted around Yuu.

Min finally brought news to me at one o'clock in the morning, sauntering into my room with a lock pick kit and a stack of papers, which she slammed on my face. I almost had a heart attack, punching her in the stomach from my strange instincts. She flinched, coughing loudly.
"I got you a list of jobs. Pick and choose. The wages are next to the description and you're welcome." She said briefly, already leaving my room.

"Min, why did you break into my room?" I asked breathlessly, my heart pounding in my head. She shrugged, black pixie cut disheveled and wild.
"I figured since I was already breaking into the boy's dorm, Why stop there?" Was her simple explanation. I shook my head at how ridiculous and dangerous her actions were.
"Aren't you going to be empress of Korea one day?" I inquired with a cocked brow, now sitting up in my bed. Her eyes narrowed for a split second before returning to a mischievous gaze, lips curling.
"Of course I am. That's why I gotta raise as much hell as possible before I'm forced into monarchy." She laughed, closing the door. A small click was on the other side, telling me I was locked back in my dorm room. The list of jobs was three pages long. I put them next to my bed, deciding to get Yuu's input on it in the morning.

And so, I went back to sleep.

With no help recieved on my question from literature.

Why was Romeo so desperate upon seeing Juliet dead, that he would take the outrageous measure of killing himself?
