I woke up with my heart pounding in my head. Some loud ringing in my ears. A reminder that I was alive. That that dream, whatever hellish nightmare my mind had shown me was over. I cannot remember much of it. Just the excruciating pain in my chest. In my mind, and my body.

"He passed out?" An unfamiliar voice asked curiously. A cold hand touched my forehead, another resting gently by my arm. It twitched slightly at the interaction.
"Yes, ma'am. I didn't know what to do. I thought... maybe you did." Yu's quiet voice mumbled. The silent hand near my upper arm was him.
"I'm a nurse. Of course I would know. But I don't. He doesn't seem to be sick or dehydrated. No heart problems?"
"Not that I've known or from what he's told me. Just pain."
"Curious... Mikaela, can you hear me?" She cooed. Their voices were so far I barely heard them. At the time, I couldn't hear them. Or decipher the words. She sighed. "Drats." Her hand lifted away from my forehead. A new hand brushed hair from my face. The buzzing pain told me it was Yuu.
"Mika. Wake up." He spoke quietly, a whisper. But I heard it like a wake up call. A summoning. My eyes fluttered open. Never flinching at the sunlight blinding me. Just staring at Yuu. No words were spoken. My mind buzzed in pain. His hand was covering the back of my right. He smiled. I recognized my blurred surroundings as my room.
"Oh, so he doesn't wake up to me but he's suddenly alert when you call out to him." A woman at his side sighed. She had dark skin and curling hair near the point of being frizzy, and a narrowed yet relatively large nose. She reminded me of Chi.
"That's because you're not familiar to him." He said. The only explanation he could give. Even I couldn't explain why I reacted to him and only him.
"Can he speak?" She asked.
"Of course I can. It's just shocking to wake up in a different room than the one you pass out in." I said plainly. Her mouth gaped open.
"Wow, Kitchi wasn't kidding. You are strange. Most people would be sobbing from passing out, wondering what's wrong with them or where they are. You're just.. calm. It's unnerving." She mused.
"He's normal. As long as I'm here, he knows there's nothing wrong." Yu said. Certain. His voice was so certain it comforted me from the words this woman spoke.
"It appears to be so. Say, are you two...?" She trailed off, glancing from me to him. He turned crimson, shaking his head gently. His hair moved with him like charcoal waves. He gave her a small smile with a look I couldn't process. "Oh. Oh." She repeated herself in understanding, changing her attention to me.
"So, how you holding up, Mikaela?" The woman asked, taking my pulse. Yuu's hand left mine. He was covering the ruby. I wonder why?
"Perfectly fine. Although I would like to know your name, I'm more concerned for the time."
"You missed out on the rest of the school day. Apparently, you missed Professor Dulcibella arguing with Alan about Helen of Troy." Well, glad to see Iris was still fighting students without me.
"I'm Kitchi's sister, Alana. Tetsuya would say I'm our parents' spy." The woman explained.
"Ah. That explains the resemblance." I mumbled to myself.
"It took me two months to figure out they were related. How the hell did you get it so quickly?" He hissed at me. I laughed smugly.

"Your vitals seem to be fine, so if you'll excuse me," Alana said a few minutes later, shuffling to the door. "I heard a kid barfed a floor above you and I might have to drug him."
"What?"
"It's a procedure."
"Yeah, for mental patients." Yu muttered beneath his breath. Then she was gone. And he turned serious. His eyes narrowed.

"Are you sure you're alright? You seemed to be in a lot of pain." He leaned toward me as I leaned against my wall.
"I'm fit as a fiddle. Most of what I experience are... memories of pain, I think. My body's recreating the pain." I explained my theory, finding it much less interesting now. The idea of it was nice. But saying the words made me feel strange. I put on a record to mute it. My boss was strangely kind. He let me get a box of records and a record player for only a hundred and twenty dollars. And extra work, of course. I was glad to do such.
"That could be true." He sighed, walking to my window. "I really wish we could just know all of this. Without all the pain you're going through."
"Me too. If there was just someone like me who knew... this would be so much easier."
"And better for you." He muttered, eyes narrowing as he surveyed the outdoor terrain. I saw his eyes flash briefly to the island in the sky. Yuu was thinking. His face went blank for a long while.

"Someone's falling from the sky. The same way you did. Except... he doesn't seem too good." He announced, bounding out of the room without another word. I stopped the record and put it away before racing after him. He had never told me about his side of my descent to Earth.
"How can you tell he's not okay?" I asked as we rushed down the stairwell. His clouded expression told me he was only partially listening.
"Your... wings were trying to save you. His aren't." He mumbled.
Alan's door shot open as we passed. "What's going on? I could hear you from a floor below." He asked, colorful eyes confused. Marco appeared next to him, messily putting on his glasses.
"Nothing." I said quickly. They didn't seem convinced. Yuu glanced over his shoulder, the expression on his face getting them to fall back. Tetsuya had found us as we were leaving, trying to join us.
"Not today. This is really important, Suya." Yu said tersely. He pouted, blond hair ruffling as he stuck out his tongue.
"Fine, Min'll be happy to have my company."
"Oh, no, Tetsuya, we would love your company, but even I know that this is something you wouldn't like. Very boring." I said as his footsteps slowed to a halt.
"Thanks." Yuu said, glancing over. His expression was brightening now, a small blush on his cheeks. We headed to the half circle cliff where the miniature beach was located wordlessly, the scarce trees providing a path.

Although, I didn't really expect to see Iris desperately attempting to leap over the ledge of the cliff when we got there, her eyes trained on the falling figure.

"I never wanted to get him hurt."
"Your intentions were well, Lorelei."
"Not to Orpheus."
"He doesn't understand."
"Maybe we don't."
"No. We belong together."
"Through thick and thin."
"If your brother could even see that, it must be true."

"He just wanted me to be happy."
"And he's done just that."
"But now he's dead."
"Shush, love. You are not at fault."

"It seems to be that it is my burden."
"Only you can free yourself of it."
"Why can't you?"
"Because I hold the key to your heart. Only you know where the lock is."

"I love you, Corinna."
"I love you, too, Lorelei."

"It hurts. Loving you."
"How so, princess?"
"I think about his sacrifice every time we meet. He gave up his life for everything we have now. Every kiss and touch."
"That's why it's called a sacrifice."
"We all sacrifice something, huh, Corinna?"
"Hmm... yes. I think so."
"I must have sacrificed my heart."
"And I my mind."
"How so?"
"You plague every inch of it, obviously."
".... What do you think Orpheus gave up?"
"His soul, duh."

"Lorelei, breathe."
"I can't stop hearing his screams- Corinna, please!"
"There's nothing I can do. You're alright. Block it out. Focus on my voice. God, if I could just be at your side up there...."

"Orpheus cried today."
"Why?"
"I don't know. Gloria and Neridia won't tell me, but they know."
"Threaten them."
"Corinna, no. That's horrible."
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Couldn't help myself. It's really hard to imagine that heartless king you're related to crying."
"He's not heartless."
"Right."
"I'm serious. Some times I think he regrets killing our brother."
"It wasn't an accident."
".... no, it wasn't."
"You hesitated. Please don't tell me you're doubting he purposefully killed him."
"I'm not."
"Good. You can think for yourself, but there's too much evidence that points towards it being a planned murder."
"Electrocution is not evidence. It's a-"
"You don't have to finish."
"It must have been painful for him."
"I don't doubt it."
".... Good night, Corinna."
"Good night, Lorelei."

"I... I love you. More than anything."

Call ended.
