Camila.
"Mummy where is Lauren?" Harmony asks as we sit at the breakfast table, using my girlfriends actual name instead of calling her mama.
"She had to go to work early baby" I lie.
"Oh okay" She nods seeming to accept this.
I hated lying to my daughter, but I really didn't want to have to try and explain it to her, if I tell her we had a fight, she'd want to know why, and there's no way I am willing to go down that road.
It's weird being in the house without Lauren, especially after spending the past two months of waking up to her literally every morning, and walking into the kitchen to find her already eating breakfast with my daughter, I missed seeing that sight this morning, I miss her.
Is that pathetic? Because I feel really pathetic right now, who knew I would have grown so attached so quickly.
"I'm finished mum" Harmony says sliding her plate towards me.
"Okay baby, go get ready" I smile taking her plate depositing it into the sink.
I hover over the sink for a few seconds, just staring at the wall before finally running my hand through my hair and making my way towards my bedroom to get ready for the day, which involves me running after rude people and giving them food, without so much as a please and thank you falling from their mouths, I swear I need to start looking for a different job, just a few more years and hopefully I will be a surgeon.
I throw my hair up into a pony tail and slip on my shoes, groaning at my baby hairs as they stick up everywhere, I try my best to flatten them down but in the end decide to give up, they never seem to cooperate with me, and today I am past the point of caring.
"I'm ready mummy" Harmony says running into my room, fully dressed with her backpack.
I take in my daughters appearance as I see the rainbow tights, black skirt and bright orange top, I don't even remember buying any of those items.
"That's how you're going?" I arch my brow, biting my lip to stifle back a laugh.
"Uh huh, is this okay?" She asks looking down at her outfit.
"You look great baby" I chuckle lightly.
Who am I to stop my kid from dressing how she wants right?
"Let me just get a picture of you real quick" I smile and pull out my phone.
Harmony was more than happy to oblige, posing for multiple photos, placing her hands on her hips and poking her tongue out at me, I chuckle softly before noticing the time.
"Come on you goof, you're going to be late" I smile and pick up my bag, taking Harmony's hand into my own.
It doesn't matter how shitty I am feeling, this little girl always manages to make me feel better, I love her for that.
"Mummy can I get ice cream after school today?" Harmony asks as she skips along beside me.
"You'll have to ask Lauren baby, she's picking you up today" I answer.
"Really?" She asks looking up at me, her entire face lighting up.
"Yeah baby" I smile.
"Yay, I miss mama" She says as we cross the road.
"Me too" I respond softly.
The rest of the walk is silent between myself and Harmony, well apart from her humming to whatever song is playing in her head at the moment, the second we reach the school all parents eyes turn to my little girls outfit, some of them judgemental for letting her leave the house like it, and others smiling because my daughter couldn't care less about what people think.
