Imagine meeting up with your brother on the way to Erebor and hugging him and generally doing the stuff close siblings do and some of the company mistaking him for your boyfriend and he finds it funny so, instead of denying it, he plays along, much to your chagrin, so you don't get to explain until after he's left. You then receive a faire amount of laughter, sympathy and apologies.
