Imagine having *insert deadly illness here* and knowing that you are dying but decide to join the company (what do I have to lose) and not telling anyone until you have a massive argument with a load of dwarves about you doing *a small task that you see as being sexist* and you accidently blurt it out. They then start trying to help you and some cry (maybe even cut a strand of a beard in respect and good luck. You can make it a thing) and they try to help you find a cure. Over the journey you get worse until Dale where *insert event here. (It could be death or a cure, your choice)*
