Imagine being taken with Merry and Pippin but Aragorn thinks you went with Sam and Frodo, so when he finds your belt and daggers in the fire pile he completely loses it. It takes both Legolas and Gimli to restrain him from killing himself with your dagger. So when he finds you in the shadows of Fangorn Forest (you got lost) he thinks he's imagining it and confesses his love for you.
