Imagine being a woodland creature (of any kind) that had been sent by Yavanna to keep an eye on the forests because the Ents were becoming scarce and stumbling across the fellowship in a forest. You tail them to make sure they get threw safely but after a fight with a pack of orcs you let out a loud yelp thing that attracts there attention. Legolas gives you sympathy and heals you. You become close to them and stay with them as their companion until the quest is over. (You may be able to talk. I think it would be interesting but it doesn't really matter)
