The One With The Heartbreak

It has been an entire week.

An entire week of Dan ignoring Phil as much as he could. 

Every time he saw Phil he would just crack a smile and rush not even letting Phil smile back. 

He understood that it wasn't Phil's fault that he had kissed him and then completely forget about it. But Dan thought it was better than he distanced himself from Phil. So that he could stop feeling about the way he did. And he could get over Phil.

Dan felt he was being mean at times but he knew that there was no point in dragging something that was never going to ever happen. So if the price of it was ignoring Phil Dan was ready to do it.

One week of being miserable. Dan knew it wasn't going to be easy because of how much time he had spent with Phil for the past few months and how much he liked him. 

But Dan was determined that he would get over Phil.

On Sunday morning Dan returned from the store after buying milk and right on the doorstep was Snowball.

Dan groaned internally. Of course, the cat had to show up at Dan's house basically forcing him to interact with Phil.

Snowball was the reason they interacted in the first place when she had just barged in his house. If it weren't for her they probably wouldn't have become such good friends.

Damn Snowball.

Dan picked up Snowball and rang the doorbell to Phil's house twice.

Phil opened and he was wearing no shirt his hair dripping wet and Dan's breath hitched a little and he forced himself not to stare at Phil's body.

"Phil um," Dan said. "Snowball got out"

"Oh," Phil said taking her in his arms.

"Yeah, " Dan said. "Be careful next time"

"Yes thanks" Phil smiled.

Dan gave him a smile and turned around to leave.

"Hey, Dan are you busy today?"

"Yeah"

"Oh okay," Phil said as he closed the door.

It had been two weeks now since Dan last had a proper conversation with Phil or even seen him for that matter. Sure he missed Phil but he was getting even better at coping up.

He did visit the bakery twice making sure that Phil wasn't there and bought cupcakes and cookies. Now that wasn't because he missed Phil but it was because he missed his baking or at least that he what he told himself as he was sat on the couch staring at the remains of the cupcakes he had just ate saving the cookies for later.

Phil's cookies were Dan's favorite thing in the world, after Phil of course.

And so Dan just continued living his life the way he used to before Phil came in the scene and be a loner like he always had been all his life.

One Thursday night Dan was walking home little happier than usual. He had finally decided to go to Berkshire after a really long time. He missed his parents and he wanted to see them. He wanted to talk to his mum about everything that had been going on in his life. He missed how he would play chess with his dad and how his dad would always give him a life lesson of some kind about an experience he had. Or his brother's constant teasing. He missed it all.

That didn't last long as when Dan reached to his apartement he saw Phil kissing a boy who was leaning against the wall. Not knowing how to react Dan dropped the box of chocolates he had brought for his mother and that of course caught Phil and the other's boy attention.

They stopped kissing and turned around looking at Dan who immediately bent down to pick up the chocolates.

He stood up to find Phil's eyes still on him. The boy's arms were around Phil's neck.

"Sorry" Dan mumbled as he opened the door to his house with great difficulty taking him longer than usual.

When the door finally opened he rushed in slamming the door shut immediately and then tossing the chocolates on the sofa.

What he just saw made everything so much more confusing. He thought he was doing good job at being distant from Phil but he was wrong. He felt hurt after watching Phil kiss the stranger even though it shouldn't even affect Dan at all. Dan hated how much Phil had taken over his life, He couldn't go any day not thinking about Phil Lester.

Maybe Dan was wrong. It wasn't easy to get over that stupid raven haired boy.
