It had been 2 weeks since Phil's bakery opening and boy was it booming. Dan had never seen Phil happier. He was always grinning and waving to almost everyone and was like an endless source of sunshine. Well he always was like the freaking sun from the Teletubbies.

When Phil would be busy at times he would ask Dan to take care of Snowball which Dan quite secretly enjoyed. He loved how she was so attached to him and would basically never leave his side until Phil would take her away.

He was also spending quite a lot of time with Phil these days. Most of this time was past midnight with Phil being an insomniac. It was mostly video games and 'Your mum' jokes between the two of them and by the time Dan would go back home it would be past 3 am and he would have very little to no  time left to sleep. This would of course result in Dan taking micro naps during his work as he would try to read the little font on the computer screen. He would swear that he would sleep early but then would find himself at Phil's house at night again.

Growing up Dan was shy. He mostly spent his time alone and had little to no friends. He could never find someone that was like him. Everyone was like an alien to him. He was introverted and liked to be left alone. This followed through adulthood. Even now when most of his colleagues from work would spend their weekends in pubs getting drunk and making out with strangers Dan would be in his house eating chips while binge watching a show or playing a video game. He did have some friends that he talked to time to time but it was never like everyone else around him.

He never even had a solid relationship growing up. He went to 3 dates, 2 with a girl and 1 with a boy who asked him out. He kissed on his dates but he was mostly quiet and then he never heard from them again and he was fine with it. It never bothered him.

Phil was surprisingly the first guy he had spent so much time with. And to his surprise he liked it. Maybe it was the fact that they liked the same things or how nice Phil was. Or maybe he just happened to be the most beautiful person Dan had laid his eyes on. It was definitely because he was beautiful.

It was a Saturday night and Dan was once again at Phil's. He had noticed that they never hung out at Dan's house and he wondered why but he didn't question it.

Phil had got some macaroons and wine for them as they were sat on the sofa watching The X Files. Snowball was of course sitting on Dan's lap. Dan was scratching behind her ears and rubbing her belly and then she would let out a satisfying mewl.

"Snowy come here" Phil said.

Snowball didn't even glance at her.

"Wow I am offended" he said.

Dan laughed and picked Snowball up and gave her to Phil who started to thrash wildly and jumped down from Dan's hands and glanced at him as if he had betrayed her before walking into the kitchen her tail up in the air.

"She really does hate me" Phil sighed.

"She doesn't hate you" Dan said.

"Oh really?"

"She just likes me more" Dan completed.

Phil punched Dan lightly in the arm but Dan knew he wasn't serious because he was laughing.

"More wine?" Phil asked.

"Yes please"

Phil came back with a bottle and poured Dan a glass.

"Phil"

"Yeah"

"I have never actually seen you play the violin before"

"I do it every single night"

"But I actually wanna see you playing it. Do you mind?" Dan asked.

"Wait"

Phil returned with his violin.

He looked really nervous as he sat down next to Dan and then began playing, closing his eyes and being so completely engrossed in it as if nobody was even there and even though Dan loved music and he had listened to so much of good stuff he literally felt chills in his body.

He didn't even realize he had his eyes closed until Phil stopped playing.

"Did you like it?"

"It was honestly the best thing I've ever listened to"

"You're lying" Phil scoffed.

"I swear I'm not" Dan said. "It was so good"

"Thanks" Phil muttered clearly flattered.

"Actually thank you" Dan said. "I'd love to hear more"

"Wow really I don't even know because this was the first time anyone has actually ever seen me play"

"What?" Dan asked not even hiding his surprise.

"It's true. It always has been a private thing and when you said you wanted to see I thought why not"

Dan didn't even know how to respond because he felt as if he had just seen something which was pretty important to Phil and he happened to be the only one to see it. Why would Phil let him be the first one? It didn't really make sense but then again most things in this world hardly make sense . Nevertheless Phil's little revelation made Dan feel special.

"Can I say I am honoured" Dan said and Phil laughed and kept the violin away. Suddenly Snowball appeared out of nowhere and hopped onto Phil's lap before licking his hand.

"Guess she still loves you" Dan said and Phil grinned as he kissed Snowball.

Dan glanced at the clock. It was 3 am already and he decided that he should get going even though he didn't really want.

"Um Phil" Dan said. "I am gonna go now. Good night buddy, see you later"

"Good night Dan" Phil said and he hugged him.

Dan decided that Phil was the kind off person who liked touch so he hugged him back as Phil's hair smelt like vanilla essence and Dan had an uncontrollable urge to bury his face in his hair but he resisted.

When they stopped hugging Dan waved and came back to his flat where he just lied back on his bed without even changing his clothes and thinking about how he was possibly attracted to his neighbour- Phil Lester.
