The One With The Ring (Epilogue)

*After 15 months*

Dan was standing in front of the mirror adjusting his tie and taking a deep breath.

There was no need to be nervous, really. It would go all well.

But Dan had always been the worrying kind in every situation and this was no exception. 

He ran his hands through his hair for one last time before grabbing the black blazer that was lying on the chair.

He put it on and looked at himself in the mirror taking a deep breath again.

"Oh Dan," his mum said as he stepped out of the room. "All ready?"

Dan nodded.

"Come on then let's go,"

Dan nodded.

They left the house and got into Dan's car. Dan's dad was driving as Dan sat in the backseat playing with his thumbs.

He wished he could reach the venue faster.

After about half an hour they reached in front of the obnoxiously large auditorium. Dan stepped out of the car looking up in awe.

This is where Phil was going to perform his first violin solo.

Dan and his parents walked in. There were already people filling in.

Dan spotted the Lesters in one of the front seats.

"Oh, Dan," Phil's mum said cheerfully and hugged him followed by Phil's dad.

"We cannot wait to see him perform," Dan's mum said to the Lesters. "It's our first time"

"We haven't seen a lot of his violin playing either. He was very shy about it even as a kid" Phil's dad said.

Dan smiled a little to himself thinking how Phil didn't hesitate to play the violin for him. It made him feel special.

Dan's phone buzzed.

"I'll be back," he said as he went to backstage where Phil had called him.

He saw Phil sitting on on a chair staring at himself in the mirror.

"Phil," Dan called.

Phil looked at Dan and immediately got up smiling.

They hugged.

"How are you feeling?" Dan asked.

"Okay," Phil answered.

"Good,"

"Definitely not nervous as you are," Phil laughed.

"I am not," Dan said.

Phil laughed again.

"Don't be nervous really. I will do the best I can,"

"I know you will," Dan smiled and then leaned in kissing Phil softly.

"I love you," Dan said.

"I love you too," Phil said.

"I think I should go now. Break a leg"

"Thank you," Phil smiled as Dan left and went back to find his parents and the Lesters sitting in the third row. Phil's brother had joined them now.

Dan sat down next to Phil's brother who gave him a smile.

A few minutes later the auditorium became darker.

The first contestant came in and began playing.
