Chapter 4 ~ Thoughts

[Skylar's POV]

''So I got fooled by the note, and went out to Route 29 alone. Then I got knocked out and then the next thing I knew was, I was dangling upside down in a cave.'' Gold said. ''That's it?! You got fooled by a stupid note?!'' Red asked. I couldn't believe it either.

(Okay, so we're in a diner in Cherrygrove, and Gold treated us to burgers. The two Pokémon are beside Gold, both fast asleep. I'm sitting beside Red,while Gold, Lace and Pika are sitting across us.)

So Gold almost got himself stuck in a cave forever just because of a note?!

''The handwriting was really similar to Catania's, so I thought it was hers. Turns out that her older brother copied it and wrote that note to fool me.'' Gold said, defending himself.

''Catania? That's the name of your latest girlfriend?'' I asked.

''My ex-girlfriend. We broke up three months ago.''

''I'm very sorry about that.'' I snickered.

''What's so funny?''

''You've got ketchup on your face.'' Red says. We're both finished with our burgers, but Gold looks really hungry.  Gold quickly wiped it off with a tissue.

''So........ Am I forgiven?''

''Relax, Gold, we're not mad at you.'' I said. ''At least you're safe.'' Red agreed. He's been quiet since we came into the diner. I wonder why.

''Alright! My turn to ask questions. What's been going on between the two of you? You're together, right?'' 

''Nothing! There's nothing. We just met y-yesterday!'' Red protested, hiding his face under his cap.

It took a me a whole minute to register what Gold had just said. ''We hardly even know each other, so what made you think that we're together?''  I demanded. But really, Red and I, DATING?!? This is just the second time we've met, and Gold thinks we're together?  Not happening.

''Oh, I don't know, perhaps the fact that the two of you were together when you rescued me?''

''So then if I was the one trapped in the cave, and you and Lyra came to rescue me, will that mean that you're dating her?'' I shot back.

Gold blushed. ''I don't even like Lyra!''

''Says the boy who traveled with her as he made his way into each gym.''

''L-Lyra just tagged a-along! And if you were the one who got trapped in that cave, I already know that you're not going to ask Lyra nor I to help you.''

''Good point.''

''Because it's obvious that you're going to ask either Silver or Red to help you instead!''

Red took the words out of my mouth. ''How did I get included in there?''

''Because you're her friend.''

''That's it? Nice theory.''

''But you would, wouldn't you?''

I hesitated. ''I don't know.''

''Yeah right, you don't know because you're always sure that Silvy will be always there to help you out whenever.''

''Ha, but I'm not the one who calls Silver 'Silvy', and since when did I ever asked for his help?'' I noticed that Red was watching our silly argument, but I didn't really care. ''You've got a point there. Sorry. I forgot that Silver was your brother.'' Gold said. ''Well I wasn't the one who adopted him.'' I said. ''But you adapted to him being your family and all.''  ''Why are you bringing up the subject, anyway? For him to know?'' I asked, gesturing to Red, who was still watching quietly. ''How should I know?'' Gold asks.
