Chapter 11 ~ Smile
[Skylar's POV]
We spent the whole afternoon training Explotaro and Amphitrite (my Ampharos) all around Kanto, until Gold said he was hungry.
So we went to Vermillion. We were sitting on the edge of the pier in the docks, eating ice cream. Bubblegum for him, cookies 'n cream for me. Our Pokémon didn't get left out, of course. All of them were enjoying their own cones as well, except that they were on the grass near the other end of the pier.
I sighed. We do this every month- me, Gold, and Silver. Eat ice cream at the end of Vermillion's pier at sunset. But now it's just Gold and me... Wonder what's happened to him. Not a single call..
This is the only place where I could get much close to the sea- it's where the Gramps found me. The water's shallow from the pier, so I'm not that worried. This place is so familiar, I think it's somehow connected to my past, but my memories won't return. Anyway, it's a great place to watch the sunset. Speaking of the sunset.
I don't know what's the big deal with sunsets, why do people like watching them so much? It happens everyday, so what's so interesting about that?
"Aww, come on.." Gold whined, kicking the water slightly.
"What is it this time? You said you wanted a snack, and we're currently having one."
"It's not that..." he mumbled.
"Then what?" I asked, just out of curiosity.
He shrugged. "It's nothing."
"Sure..."
"Hey, remember last month? Silvy fell into the water, remember?" he said, recalling the memory. It was like today- except last time Silver was here, with mocha as he preferred.
"If I remember correctly, you pushed him." I smirked. We were already finished with our ice cream cones.
"Did I? Don't remember that, huh."
"Yes you did, then he had to walk home dripping wet."
"Huh." he shrugged, then sighed. Then he stared at me. At first I didn't bother, but after five minutes I began to get annoyed. You know, that weird feeling you get when you know you're being watched- except that the watcher is right beside you.
"Got something on my face?" I asked. Maybe I got the ice cream stained on some part of my face.
He was still staring at me with an expression that seemed calm to me. Well, he wasn't smiling, but he wasn't frowning either. He was........ uh, relaxed.
"Now wouldn't you wish Silv was here, don't you?"
"Yeah..... It just doesn't feel the same. Like there's a missing aura."
"You're not having fun?" he frowned slightly. "You're the one who taught me how to tell if someone is lying."
"I guess I did teach you... Truth is, I'm kinda upset because Lace ditched me." I finally admitted.
"Lace did not ditch you, Skylar. Silver's gonna take care of her, don't worry. Just think of it as a mini-vacation for Pokémon." Gold said to me. It was hard to believe it, but the softness in his eyes made me.
"Then's she's going back to me after a while, and everything will be back to normal." I said, even if it's not really true. Everything won't turn back to normal.
"Skylar. Didn't I already tell you that I don't want you upset? Therefore, I'm going to take your mind off the things that make you upset." he grinned.
