Chapter 13 ~ Confection
[Skylar's POV]
The sugarhouse is just a block away from my house. I'm not going to let the chilliness stop me from getting my sweets.
And I'm here!! I'm standing in front of the brick-walled, peppermint-themed, heaven of sweets. Colorful lights are strung on the windows.
I didn't waste a second, dashing inside the shop. Strongly smells like vanilla and raspberries, ahh. The familiar rows of sweets are waiting for me, so I quickly grabbed a tray and filled in.
Candy, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, pretzels and more, so many to choose from... But I promised Explotaro that I'd be quick.
So I did the most obvious thing: Grab a bit of everything (the candies have ziplock bags, the brownies have boxes, and cups for fudge) plus a small box of sprinkle covered mini cupcakes.
"That'll be $573.63, miss." the clerk said, who was wearing a fancy candy cane costume. Beside the cashier was a sleeping Wigglytuff.
Kind of reminds me—never mind. "Merry Christmas!" the clerk called after me as I ran out of the shop.
To my dismay, Darkrai was still dozing off on my roof. How did Darkrai get there in the first place, anyway? That Pokémon should be in Sinnoh, not here. Talk about Cresselia, huh?
I immediately went straight to the kitchen. Thankfully, Explotaro turned off the stove.
"Typh. Typhlo typh typh?" Okay. You're back, can we eat now?
"Sorry to keep you waiting, Explo. But of course." I said and laid down my shopping bag of sweets on a chair.
"Typh typhlo?" What's that? Explotaro pointed to the bag of sweets.
"My sugar stash." I served the carbonara on a rectangular bowl, setting it down on the table. I placed two plates, and then we started eating.
"Typh typh typh, typhlosion. Typhlo, typhlo typh." This is actually good. The carbonara in Blackthorn is gross.
"Thanks. I'm not much of a cook, though."
Ten minutes later, he returned. "Problem solved, Darkrai's gone. You can go back to sl—is that carbonara?"
Explotaro chuckled. I smiled, knowing his love for food. "Help yourself out."
"You can sleep peacefully now, don't worry."
I was finished with my carbonara anyway. But no, I have no intention of going back to sleep yet. Or ask Gold what took him so long. The thing that matters is no Sinnoh Pokémon is there on my roof, handing out free nightmares.
Grabbing my precious bag of sweets, I nodded at Gold and headed back upstairs.
I went to the balcony on the third, deciding to stargazing for a while. It's colder than it has been earlier, but I can handle it.
I propped up my elbow on the handrail and rested my chin in my hand. From here, you could see the dim, calm lights of city. Things have gotten peaceful..... So far.
I could only imagine how happy life was for Blue when I didn't come to the league until a year later. It was his life's dream to beat me, even just for once. And it came true. And here I am, causing trouble everytime we see each other. The problem is that he's a Dexholder, he's with the Dexholders. Gold and Silver are Dexholders.
I don't belong to this region anymore. It may be the region where I was born, but if I were to stir up trouble on every encounter with Professor Oak's grandson, I'd rather leave. I'm being a burden to Gold already. I know he wants to help in searching for Yellow, but because of me he can't.
