Chapter 5 ~ Candor

[Skylar's POV]

''Hello?'' a familiar voice picked up.

''Hi, it's me, Skylar.'' I said. ''Skylar? How are you?'' he asked. ''I'm good. Silver, I have a favor to ask....''

''What is it?''

''You're always updated with the news, so you probably heard of the missing gym leaders in Unova. And, uh.....'' I trailed off, wondering how to explain the situation. Gold raised an eyebrow at me, smirking. I hate it when he does that. He takes every single opportunity to tease me, but at least he's friendly, unlike Blue. ''Pika pika,'' Pika told me. I nodded. ''Gold wants me to come along with him to investigate what's happening, and in order for us to do that, we need to keep an eye on the remaining gym leaders. But we're one person missing, so do you wanna come?'' I asked.

''Did I hear you right? You're with Gold?'' he asked suspiciously. I knew exactly what he was thinking from the tone of his voice. ''Silver, Red's here too so it's not just us! And our Pokémon as well!'' I said. Gold and Red looked at each other and shrugged.

Silver laughed from the other line. ''Just kidding. Sure, I'm coming over. Where are you?''

''Route 16 in Kanto. Are you still in Sinnoh?''

''No, I went to Mossdeep two weeks ago.. Should I meet you there or I'll just head for Unova?''

''I'll ask Gold,'' I said and turned to Gold. ''Where do we go first in Unova?'' Gold nudged Red. ''You decide.'' he told him. ''Castelia.'' Red said.

''I'll see you then, at Castelia.'' Silver said and cut off the line. Gold started to walk. ''Come on.'' ''You do realize that we need a boat to get to Unova.'' Red reminded him. ''We'll ride a cruise in Vermillion.'' Gold says. Good luck trying to make me, I'd rather teleport. Like heights, I don't like boats either. Gold was already ahead of us. Red and Pika were waiting for me and Lace. ''Uh, guys? Vermillion is this way? We have to go through Celadon and Saffron to get there.'' Gold said. ''I know. Sorry, just got a little distracted.'' I said. We follow him back to Celadon, and on the way, I noticed Red looking at me.

''What?'' I asked. Sometimes I freak out when people stare at me for a long period of time. ''Nothing.'' he says and puts his hands inside his pockets. I look at Pika for an explanation, who shrugs in reply. The winds blows and sends my hair flying behind. Ugh, I forgot to braid it again. As soon as the wind stopped, I toss my hair onto the front of my left shoulder. We passed through Celadon, none of us bothering to make conversation. Gold's a chatterbox, so I'm wondering what's keeping him quiet today. The only ones who are talking are Lace and Pika, though I don't bother to listen to what they're talking about. From time to time, I noticed (again) that Red was stealing glances at me.

Is there something on my face or what? I'm starting to get annoyed, but I don't show it. Like I said before, Red's lucky that I have soft spot for him (which to this day I still don't know how that happened).

We reached Saffron, and that's where I decided to break the silence between the three of us and put my plan into action. ''Shoot. I forgot...... How could I forget...'' I said and facepalmed. The two boys looked at me. ''You forgot what?'' they said in unison. ''You guys go ahead.. It's really important, I forgot something at home... It might take time, so I'll just meet you at Castelia.'' I said with a dramatic effect. Shoot. Now I realized that I did forget something. I taught Gold how to tell if a person is lying or not. But he didn't seem to notice. ''Skylar, your is house is just nearby. So go on, run along, and we'll wait for you right here.'' Gold says. Lace doesn't know what I'm up to, but fortunately she decided to play along.
