Harry's POV:

The ambulance siren rang in my ears, I sat in the back of the ambulance, holding tightly to Riley's hand.

Her eyes were wide open, but her body was motionless.

We arrived at the hospital, and they wheeled her into a room, a doctor stopping me with his hand.

"We will have to do a couple tests on her body to see how bad the damage is."

My breath caught in my throat. "I'm her..."

The doctor's eyebrows raised at me, looking at me, annoyed.

"...husband."

His eyes widened a bit. "Oh, well then, you can come in for some. I'm sorry, I suspected you were her boyfriend, or fiance," he said.

I chuckled nervously. "Yeah, no way."

His eyes guided me to the room, he smiled at me warmly.

I followed him, to see Riley in a blue hospital gown. Her blue eyes followed me around the room, the pleading look on her face slowly breaking my heart in two.

"You can see her for a few minutes, but then the tests we have to run cannot have any company, excluding the nurses."

I nodded and he proceeded to walk out of the room. "Oh, and..."

"Styles. Harry Styles."

"Mr. Styles, your wife will be fine."

He left the room, leaving Riley and I alone, silence filling the already dense air.

"So, uh."

I scratched the back of my neck.

Riley's face revealed confusion. I thought back to the doctor's words.

"Oh. Oh." I realized. "He wouldn't let me see you unless we were married. So, you're my wife until we're out of here," I said sheepishly.

I could see a faint hint of a smile appear on her face. She struggled for it grow bigger.

I placed my hand on her face. "It's okay, don't hurt yourself more," I said.

Someone knocked on the door. The doctor's head peered in and he tapped his finger on his watch.

"I have to go," I whispered to her.

I left the room, tears screaming to come out.

This is all my fucking fault.

If we hadn't gone on that carriage ride.

I sat down on the couch, holding my head in my hands.

I felt the couch dip as another body sat down next to me.

I looked up to meet a pair of gold eyes.

It was a girl.

Not any girl - it was Chrysta.

I felt her small arms wrap around my body.

As much as I wanted to shake her off, I needed the comfort.
