Unfair - Chapter 12

Riley's POV:

"Ri?" Harry burst through the door to my apartment. He threw his jacket and phone on the couch and ran over to me. He enveloped me in a hug and sobbed softly into my shoulder.

"Babe, whats wrong?" I asked while petting his soft curls. I kissed his head and he looked up at me with tear-glazed eyes. I suddenly realized where he had been. "Was it management?"

He meakly nodded his head and sobbed some more. I'd never seen him like this. Sure, when X Factor ended, he cried into my shoulder. But, this was different.

"What did they say?"

"They-" he sobbed. "Theyyy- said-" He stuttered, his voice cracking.

"Calm down first Haz," I said. He looked at me and gave me a small smile. He kissed me on the lips, I felt the salt from his tears.

He took a deep breath.

"Do you remember Kendall?" I nodded.

He had introduced me to her while we were X-Factor. She was very sweet and quite pretty.

"Well, she came to see me about a week ago. She has to go to America to start off her career. And because of our schedules, I won't get to see her for a year or so."

"Is that it?" I whispered to him.

He shook his head. I bit my lip.

"Well, they took pictures of me with Kendall. They think Kendall is prettier than you - which is completely untrue," he said, smiling at me. I kissed his tear-stained cheeks.

"Go on,"

"They want me to date Kendall for three months! How twisted is that? To date my best friend!" He turned from sobbing to fuming. His fists were now clenched as he looked at me. His green eyes were lit up. 

"So... no more us?" I asked quietly.

He shook his head furiously and hugged me tight. "You're mine, I'm not letting you go." He chuckled and looked at me. Tears still fell from his eyes. He lifted his hand and rubbed my cheek with his thumb. "I love you,"

"What about management?"

"They ruin everything! I just want this one time to be perfect. I don't get what their problem with me is. Sure, let Zayn propose to Perrie, let Louis go on dates with Eleanor, and Liam gets Danielle..." he took a breath. "What do I get? Nothing!" 

"It's okay," I said calmly, even though I was breaking inside. "Go on your dates with Kendall to keep management happy, and I can stay in the background, we can secretly meet!" I said, smiling through the tears.

"Okay," he whispered and looked at me.

"Good, now let's watch a movie. Which one?"

"I got a copy of 'This Is Us', wanna watch it?" Harry asked.

I cheered. This was gonna be a great night.
