"I'm so sorry." Ethan whispered, whiping the tear from my face.
"Stop saying that!" I growled, suddenly furious. I lept way from Ethan and glared at the stunned look on his face. The hurt. I screamed and punched the wall, frustrated.
"I'm sorry." I said, walking back to him. I wrapped my arms around his waist and he held me tightly.
"It's ok." Ethan said quietly. I squeezed my eyes shut and silently yelled at myself for hurting him. Suddenly a sharp pain shot through my body. I gasped and doubled over in pain.
"Mikeala? Mikeala what's wrong?" Ethan asked frantically. I fell to the floor and screamed in pain as my body convulsed. I suddenly felt nauseous and got up, barely making it to the bathroom before I got sick, heaving up blood.
"Whats happening to me?" I cried, sitting in a small ball on the floor as pain racked my body.
"You bodys fighting the venom. It will all be over in a few minutes. I promise." Ethan gently picked me up and carried me to the bed, bringing a trashcan with him. I puked up blood again and laid my head back on the pillow. Suddenly the pain disappeared and I felt a heavy darkness floating over me. I closed my eyes and let the blankness consume me.
I woke up beside Ethan. The pain was gone except for in my throat, where fire burned dully. Ethane arm was wrapped around my shoulders and I gently moved off of his arm and got out of the bed. Where am I? I thought. Ethan never told me. I walked to the window and stared out at the bright gleaming moon. The stars were high in the sky and sparkled, calling to me. I opened the window, not making a whisper of a sound, and crept out the window and onto the ledge of the building. I had a sense that I should be scared of this tiny ledge but I wasn't. I felt invincible. Like I could do anything. I walked catlike across the ledge until I came to the end and then I suddenly spun around and jumped. I grasped onto the window seal above me and jumped again, landing on the roof.
"This is so cool!" I laughed. Suddenly I felt a presence near me, a panicked presence. I turned towards the edge of the building and froze. I listened and heard faint footsteps.
"Mikeala?" a voice called out. Instincts told me to run but I stood my ground, listening as the intruder followed my scent. Once the person made it to the second window seal my instincts won out and I fled. I heard running behind me and jumped across to the next building, still amazed I could jump that far. Suddenly I was tackled from behind by a heavy body. I screamed and lashed wildly as the stranger held me down.
"Mikeala! It's me! Ethan! Stop! I'm not going to hurt you!" finally I stopped struggling and realized it was Ethan.
"Ethan! You scared me!" I said, sinking my face into his chest.
"I know baby, this is all new to you. I understand. Your not used to your senses yet. Come on, let's get you home. I bet your thirsty." Ethan said, standing and pulling me to my feet. I nodded and followed behind him, slightly embarrassed.
