Time seemed to stop. All in those two seconds I watched the love of my life being killed. In one last frantic attempt to save Ethan, I threw myself off the bed, screaming in pain as my leg made a sickening thud on the floor behind me and I shoved into Damon. Surprised he grabbed me and threw me into the wall. I cried out in pain and fell to the floor, just catching a glimpse of Shadow bursting through the door. She fazed into wolf form and attacked Damon. The room spun wildly as Ethan jumped in to help Shadow. I blinked and the world when black.

"Do you promise to always be here?" I asked Ethan. He smiled, his face brightening up the room.

"I do." He answered, lightly kissing me on the lips. I took his hand and together we ran through the woods, our feet echoing behind us. My skin shimmered in the sunlight, sparkling rays of light bouncing off my body. I knew that I was his. Forever. Suddenly Ethan pulled me to a stop. He stared into my eyes and slowly got down on one knee.

"Mikeala, I will always love you. Til death do us apart. Will you do me the extraordinary honor of marrying me?" Ethan whispered. I gasped in shock as love filled my body. I felt tears streaming down my cheeks as I nodded my head and whispered "yes."

I was aware of a burning sensation in my fingertips as I slowly woke up. I was in the hospital.

"Mikeala?" a voice said. I turned my head and smiled at Ethan. He gripped my hand tightly and gave me a kiss on my cheek.

"I didn't think I would ever see those beautiful eyes again." he said quietly.

"Don't leave me." I said suddenly. Ethans eyes grew soft as he gently ran his hand down my face.

"I will never leave you again. Mikeala, I swear. The only reason I left is because I thought you would be safer without me. But I was wrong. Will you ever forgive me?"

I nodded my head and smiled.

"Let's go home." I said, sitting up in the hospital bed.
