I walked a mile before my house finally came into view. Excited yet nervous I took off at a run, but only allowing myself to run at a human pace, not vampire. It seemed like forever but finally I made it to the front door. I hesitated, suddenly scared to open the door, but gathered my courage and swung the door open.
"Mom!" I yelled. "Dad? Ashley?" my mom ran into the room from the kitchen and gasped.
"Mikeala? Oh my god! Charles! She's home!" mom cried, running to me. She wrapped her arms around me and we stood, mom crying, me wishing I could cry, as my dad and Ashley ran into the room, enveloping me in warmth.
"Ma'am, we have a few questions." the police officer said. I read his name on his badge. Officer Wilkinson. I nodded my head and wrapped the blanket tighter around me. I relayed the "story" of what happened to me, careful to leave Ethan's name out.
"Did you see the muggers faces?" Officer Wilkinson asked.
"No. If I did, I don't remember. I can't remember much of anything." I said, allowing myself to act like I was fixing to cry. The cop nodded his head.
"I understand. Well, that's all the questions we have. Thank you for your time." the officer nodded at me and left me alone with Ashley.
"Mikeala? Can we go upstairs to your room?" Ashley asked.
"Ya." I said, jumping off the couch and following my sister upstairs. We went in my room and sat on the bed. My room had been cleaned spotless. My bed was made and the cracks on the wall from the fight were fixed.
"They couldn't stand to leave your room a mess. How did those cracks get in the wall anyway?" Ash asked.
"I fell." I said simply." turns out the walls hurt when you faceplant them." Ashely laughed and grabbed me in a tight huge.
"I was so worried about you." Ash whispered.
"Its ok now Ash. I'm home." I said.
"I love you."
"I love you too." I said, hugging her and smelling the faint smell of strawberries in her hair.
