Chapter 38 - A Small Accident

Brent

"... so that would be the plan... ok with you?" I said after explaining with my phone facing them with diagrams.

"Sounds good, bro" Monching said as he shook my hand and stared at Jelyn's eyes lovingly.

"Sabi ko sa iyo, honey... Kuya Brent was good with this planning" my cousin said with a cheerful face.

"We can iron out the details in a few days" I said as I placed my phone back into my pocket.

"Let's... but for now... dinner is to be served" Jelyn said sanding up and leading us to the dinner table where the close family will be dining.

I stood up as I felt a bit hungry, as well, following Jelyn and Monching.

Nicolo

"Tol... mag ready na raw at kakain na ang mga bisita... let's go!" masayang bulong ni Drei sa akin ng hilahin niya ako papunta sa ibang mga waiter sa kusina.

Matapos mag ayos, unti-unti na naming nilabas ang mga pagkain. At dail nasabihan na ako ng mga dapat gawin para sa mga bisita, di na ako maguguluhan kahit papaano.

Dala ko na ang pitsel ng tubig para magsalin sa mga bisita. Tinuruan na rin ako ng sasabihin para di mapahiya. Mga alta de siyudad pa naman ito.

"Sir, water?" pabulong kong sinabi.

Brent

"Sir, water?" someone asked just beside me.

"Sure" I replied not really looking at the waiter as he reached for my glass and poured me some water.

"Please enjoy" the waiter said as he placed back my glass.

"Thank... you..." I slowly said as my eyes met his.

"You're welcome, Sir" he replied before leaving the dining area.

Natulala ako ng ilang segundo as I partially watched the waiter leave.

Could it be?

No... I could be wrong.

Nicolo

"Drei, ano pa gagawin natin? Nailabas na ang mga pagkain" tanong ko ng makapasok ako ulit sa kusina.

"Sabi ng organizer kanina, maghintay lang daw tayo sa labas. Baka may kailanganin sila. Tayong dalawa na lang. Ibang mga waiter naman labas sila para tumulong sa may garden" kwento ni Andrei habang nakaharap sa isang salamin at nag aayos ng buhok niya.

Matapos makiinom ng tubig, lumabas na kami ng kusina. At tumayo sa magkabilang sulok ng dining. Nagbabantay at naghihintay ng iuutos ng mga panauhin.

"Thank you all for coming..." panimula ni Sir Monching.

Brent

"... and joining us on this night. We are so blessed to be celebrating our engagement..." Mon continued as he helped Jelyn stand and continue their speech.

"...I just want to tell everyone. Thank you. For being here" Jelyn said as her eyes started to well up with tears.

As everyone raised their glasses, we all cheered for jelyn and Mon's happiness.

As I raised mine, I bumped onto Mon beside me as I took a drink from my red wine. I accidentally spilled some on my white polo shirt. A waiter rushed as he saw what happened.

"Sorry" Mon exclaimed to me as everyone was busy with their own cheering.

"No prob. I can have it washed later at home" I comforted him.

"No. Let me lend you one of my shirts" he said as he led me upstairs to get changed.

"it's ok, I swear" I said slowly walking behind Mon, this is just a small accident anyway.

"We insist. Jelyn will not forgive me if I don't do anything" he said as he gave me an extra shirt.

So I went to the washroom took the shirt and changed. It's no problem to me actually. But I appreciate the care they gave me here also.

"Family..." I told myself as I was going out the door.

"Sir, Ok lang po kayo?" a waiter asked as I closed the door behind me.

"Ah... ok lang... ikaw yung waiter na tumulong sa akin kanina. Thank you" sabi ko ng lumapit siyang worried.

"Wala po yun. Pinapunta po ako ni Sir Mon para tingnan kung ok lang po kayo, habang nasa labas sila sa ibang mga panauhin" he answered.

The concern I feel from this one seems genuine. Respect for him has already been established.

"Ok lang ako. Ako nga pala ang pinsan ng ikakasal na dalaga, Brent" I said, in Tagalog as it seems he is less of an English speaker from his words, as I extended my hand for a handshake.

"Nicolo... ako po si Nicolo" he answered.
