The next morning I literally danced through the bedroom and bathroom as I completed my morning routine and down the stairs to the kitchen. I pulled out ingredients to make scrambled eggs on toast and danced around the kitchen, singing along to a song I had playing on a Bluetooth speaker. My pale blue maxi dress swayed around my ankles as I did so.
"Good morning you little weirdo" Jace chuckled and patted my head as he walked past me.
"Rude" I laughed.
I served up some scrambled eggs and toast for him and he grinned widely. "I could so get used to living here"
I giggled and served up a plate for me and Casey just as he walked into the kitchen freshly showered with shorts and a muscle fit tee which made me want to skip breakfast and have him instead. Jace made gagging noises from the table as he watched us staring at each other for an unnecessary amount of time.
"Come on guys, it was bad enough hearing you last night, I don't need a live show" Jace shivered.
I blushed bright red and rolled my eyes. "You'll understand when you find you own mate, Jace"
He shrugged. "It seems like she doesn't want to be found." He sulked. "I've been looking everywhere in this pack, in my old pack and in every other pack that I've visited. I can't seem to find her."
Casey chuckled this time and took a sip from his coffee. "That's because you're looking for her. I was looking for Annabelle for years and had pretty much given up when fate decided to give her to me." He grinned, holding my hand. I smiled.
Jace looked between us in confusion. "You're telling me to stop looking and just let her come to me?" He frowned.
"That's exactly what I'm saying. Fate will bring her to you eventually. Just be patient. She's out there somewhere."
"You know what you're right. I better go to training. I'll see you love birds later" he grinned and left the kitchen.
I smiled and finished my breakfast. I looked up at Casey and laughed because he was starring at me. "You're never going to stop that are you?" I chuckled standing up and taking our plates to the sink.
He chuckled and hugged me from behind as I stood at the sink and kissed my mark, causing me to moan quietly. "Damned right" he purred, turning me around and kissing me passionately.
Long story short, we went back to our room and didn't leave for the entire day.
******************
The next day was quite a dark one. The rain and dark skies added to the already gloomy day. It was the day of Callum's execution and I really didn't want to attend but I knew that I had to. I will spare the grim details but it was certainly a day that would haunt my brain for the rest of my life.
We were back at the pack house and I had fallen asleep on the sofa in the games room while watching Jace play Halo. I wasn't sure if it was the game and the days events messing with my head but I had the most awful nightmare.
" I told you, didn't I? I told you that you would never escape me, yet you tried to anyway? You disobeyed me you little rat. Now you will pay for it"
His voice echoed around the darkness. The room I was in was pitch black. It was so dark that I couldn't even see my hands or anything. Suddenly, a light was turned on and I squinted as a light bulb swung from side to side in front of my face. My chair was suddenly kicked over so I was now starring directly at the sealing, or I would be if it wasn't for Callum's face hovering a few feet above mine. I look away from him and observed my situation.
Jace chuckled and stepped out of the darkness. He pulled the chair onto it's feet and turned it around so it was facing the opposite side of the room. I thought that he was here to save me since he turned me around. Maybe he didn't want me to see what he was going to do but I was proven wrong when his fist collided with my face.
I screamed as Jace punched me in the face. "Shut up, bitch." He growled. "You're not getting away with this! You betrayed me! You betrayed everyone! My parents meant the world to me and you knew how much I loved them!"
I was now beyond confused. "What the hell are you talking about, Jace? What the he'll has he drilled into your head?!"
I screamed in agony as he punched me again, this time even harder than the first. "HOW CAN YOU EVEN TRY TO JUSTIFY YOURSELF OR TRY TO SAY YOU DIDN'T DO IT? YOU KILLED THEM! YOU KILLED MY PARENTS AND NOW YOU'RE GOING TO PAY FOR IT!" he growled, kicking me in the face this time. I screamed in agony.
"I didn't.....I wouldn't" My words were getting lost in my heavy breathing.
Callum laughed and pulled out a needle. "You lost darlin' . Now I get to have my prize!"
"NO! JACE DO SOMETHING! DON'T DO THIS! NO! PLEASE!"
Jace glared at me and took the needle from Callum and advanced toward me-
Suddenly, I was jerked awake by someone shaking my body.
"Belle! Wake up!" Someone shouted, frantically.
I opened my eyes and screamed as Jace's face came into view. I shot up off of the sofa and backed away from him. He looked shocked by my response and tried to calm me down as I burst into hysterics.
"Belle" He called softly. "Hey, hey. It's me. You're alright. It was just a dream. You're safe."
I started to calm down and tried to slow down my breathing. Casey came running into the room looking panicked. He saw me curled up on the floor and his face softened. He asked Jace what happened and he explained while I sat there thinking about the dream. It felt so real.
"Belle. Hey it's okay, You're safe now." Casey said softly, pulling me into his arms.
When I had fully calmed down I looked around the room to see Jace knelt down a small distance away to give me space and Casey had me in his lap curled up like a child. I panted and gripped the bridge of my nose with my index finger and thumb.
"The nightmares. They're back again aren't they?" Jace sighed, sitting down.
I nodded and Casey frowned. I sighed and explained to him. "I used to get awful night terrors when I was about 14 up until I was about 16. They started when my parents had explained to me what happened to my real parents."
"It got so bad that I used to have to stay with her at night because she couldn't sleep on her own and she would have these fits most nights and if no one was there to calm her down she would have a full blown panic attack." Jace added.
"Oh Belle." Casey sighed, hugging me tightly. " If you want I can see if Nick can give you anything for them? I don't want to chance this happening again"
I sighed and nodded. "That might be a good idea."
We went to visit Nick and he did all the usual checks to rule out anything else and prescribed my with some pills that he claimed would help.
That night I took the pills and Casey watched over me the whole night, telling me he wouldn't sleep until the nightmares were gone. Luckily for me and him the nightmares didn't return but the previous nightmare I had that day definitely stuck in my mind for a long time.
