Third's POV
The last bell of Friday rang and students started pack their backpacks so did Hailey too. She pulled her backpack's strap over her left shoulder and walked out of the class.
The day had been awful. She had had to spent a whole day without her best friend since she had left in trip with her family. The day had felt so long and boring without her and her stupid jokes which however made them both laugh in the class even teacher told to be quiet.
The way back home felt longer that it actually was. Hailey took her headphones out of her pocket, inset them to her phone and pushed headphone parts to her ears. She opened her music player and put her favorite song on:
"Show me an open door
Then you go and slam it on me
I can't take anymore
I'm saying babyPlease have mercy on me
Take it easy on my heart
Even though you don't mean to hurt me
You keep tearing me apart
Would you please have mercy, mercy on my heart"Shawn had been her favorite since the beginning. His soft voice had caught her right away when his first single came out. She was addicted, but in good way.
Hailey's POV:
I smiled and sang along the song while I took a few dance moves.
"Consuming all the air inside my lungs
Ripping all the skin from off my bones
I'm prepared to sacrifice my life
I would gladly do it twice"I was totally lost in my own world that I didn't even noticed that some kids from nearest yard were staring me. I calmed down and tried act normally. Oh fuck, that was awkward I cursed myself
I already saw my house a few houses away and two people standing there. When I got closer I recognized those two persons. They were my mom and Mr. Bieber.
"Hi, sweetheart" mom greeted and I cursed myself why she have to always embarrass me by calling me with that name. He turned his head over me and smiled. I smiled back and stopped there next to them like it would have been some kind of responsibily to me do so.
"How have you settled here?" my mom went back the conversation eith him. "Pretty good, people have been so nice here to me and yeah good. I'm glad that I have at least once good neighbors around me" his white teeths showed when he laughed a bit. "So you have moved before?" she kept bombing him with questions which sounded unnecessary to know for me.
"Yes, a couple times. Studying has been reason to those moves" he told softly and my mom's face lightened a bit. "So are you studying right now or working already?" "I'm actually a musician" he told and it made my mom nod her head. "When I graduated from high school it didn't felt good anymore continue. Music has always been my passion"
"But you was good at school though?" He nodded and chuckled again: "Yeah, I was. I was actually pretty good at math one day when I was in high school" he told and made my mom raise her eyebrows. "Oh really?" "Yeah, I got A+ almost every tests there" he chuckled and scratched back of his neck and gave me a quick look. I just stared those two not thinking who I was even listening if anyone.
"A+ from math? Hey, you could help Hailey with it because she's not so good at it. She had failed her last two tests in last courses" she whispered the last part like I wouldn't have heard it but I did. I just rolled my eyes to my mom and disappered inside our house finally.
"But like if it's not too much for you" I heard her continuing the conversation with Justin. "No no, it would be actually fun to help because you know, your skills will rust if you don't use them" he chuckled and made my mom chuckle back.
I had to close my window on that point when I walked inside my room. I couldn't concentrate on my homework if I heard them talking. I opened my biology books and finished those notes which I started in the class. I did a few cross between a diagrams and other diagrams to other exercises before I was pleased to that part of all that work which was still waiting for me to do.
Pile of my homework books got lower and lower since there was just one book left, math. I stared that book with disgust. Even its cover page didn't called me to read it or do any exercises there. It was ugly colored and way too thick for me. I pushed it a side and walked to kitchen. It was a dinner time.
There we sat all together, me, mom, my big brother Derek and my little brother Benjamin. Mom had made pasta and her special spicy tomato sauce which recipe she had got our grandmother. I emptied my plate fast and took a bit more before I leaned my back against the chair back. Pleased sigh left my mouth and mom smiled over me.
"Did you liked it, sweetheart?" she asked and put more pasta on Benjamin's plate since he asked so. "No, I loved it. This is literally the best food in whole world" I praised and it made us all laugh later. "Well, there's still some left for tomorrow. I have a night shift so you kids have to manage here by yourselves then" she told and started collect the dishes.
I stopped her and told her to go sit back. "I can do it" I said and took plates off in front of my brothers places. I carried them to sink table and washed them a bit before I put them in the dish washer. I dried my hands to towel and noticed how one of my nails had broken. I cursed myself. No I had to cut them all but I had no money to buy new ones so I decided just take it like a big girl. One nail here or there, none probably notice.
Mom yelled thanks after me before I moved back to my room and closed the door behind me. My math book was still laying there and waiting that I open it but I didn't. There was no math tomorrow so I decided save it for tomorrow evening when I could ask some help for Charlotte.
I took my phone and opened the screen. There was bunch of messages from different chatting groups where I was but especially notification of new messages for Marcus hit on my eye:
Hey, Hailey. It's Marcus here. I was just wondering, do you have those papers which Ms. Susans gave us about two days ago about research methods?
My cheeks heated and I smiled myself before I answered him:
Yeah, you can use and copy from my paper those questions to your notebook (or wherever you do your homeworks ) tomorrow
Two minutes later he texted back:
Okay, thanks😊
I sighed with happiness and covered my face with my hands. That boy was just too cute to be real. We had talked now two months in phone but at school we tried be like we wouldn't know each others. It was nothing serious. We're just friends even sometimes I felt like I would like to be more than just friend for him.
None of us hadn't been that brave to ask other that important question yet. We were moving slow and I didn't want ruin this thing with hurrying. Plus maybe this feeling was coming from just one side, for me. Maybe he thought me just as his friend.
Oh boy, I wanted be more than just friend of his
