Chapter 10

Robin's POV

 The next day... second day of being back at work...

    Sandy's out sick and there's no one else here to cover for him, so I have to double the paperwork and prep for tomorrow. I'm only about two hours in and still have four more to go and an hour of prep so technically five hours. Not that that's a super long shift compared to what some people work, but it's the workload of two people thrown onto one person (me) that's a bit much. 

 5 hours later...

     I'm finally finished and god I'm exhausted. My vision is blurred, my eyes are strained, and I'm starving. I go straight from work to the Subway across the street and get myself a carved turkey sub. I would wait until the bar to eat, but I'm having extreme hunger pains. My sub is ready within five minutes. I pay for it and sit at a table by the window and devour it. When the turkey hits my mouth, I hold back moans. It feels so good to have food. I haven't eaten since breakfast and all I had then was a plain bagel with cream cheese. When I finish, I had to the bar to meet Barney and Ted. Lily and Marshall said they wanted to come tonight but couldn't make it last minute. It's understandable. They have a kid now and new lives out on Long Island. 

     Barney and Ted hug me when I get to the table. They continue to stare at me with goofy grins. "Obviously you guys have some news. What is it?" Ted speaks up first. "Well Arthur the hardass barely likes anything that's proposed to him, but he approved my latest project with Barney. The real project is set to start next month." Barney pats him on the back. "This guy did good today." He dashes over to my side of the table and wraps an arm around me. "How was your day Robin?" It sucked. Sandy was out sick and no one was willing to cover for him so I had to do twice the work in a crammed seven hour shift. I ate at Subway before coming here, but I'm so exhausted. After we drink a bit, I'm heading straight to bed. I know you wanted to have movie night tonight, but I'm just too tired. Can we do it tomorrow night? You and I both get off early enough to do it." 

    "Absolutely. Also, in fact, if you're tired Robin, I'll take you home so you can rest." He turns to Ted. Can you man the fort alone for a few?" He nods and says good night to me. I fumble for my keys as I try to get settled as quick as possible. Barney makes sure I'm good before kissing me goodnight and heading back to the bar to hang out with Ted for a bit. The second I'm done brushing my teeth and flossing, I climb right into bed and fall asleep.
