Chapter 30

Robin's POV 

Five years later...

    Life often deals you a diverse set of cards. Sometimes you get a good hand, other times you get a bad hand. The gang and I recently got dealt a bad hand. Barney was driving home from work on a rainy night three months ago and got hit by another driver who racing down the busy neighborhood street. The doctors did everything they could to try to save him, but he didn't make it. We had a lovely funeral service for him, which Lily, Marshal, Ted, and I all chipped in money to pay for. 

     While Lily and Marshal continue to be there for Ted and I, Ted and I have been seeing more of each other lately. He's the only person who gets what I'm going through on a deeper level. We all miss Barney terribly though. The loss of him along with Tracy has created a gap in our group that we'll never be able to patch. I make sure to visit his grave at least twice a week. 

  That night...

    Ted's POV

     I feel an urge to see Robin tonight more than usual. I can't quite explain it, but I just know that I have to be near her. Before I do, I sit down Penny and Luke. They look at me weirdly but sit down like I ask. "You guys like Aunt Robin right?" They nod. Penny is the first to speak up. "We love Aunt Robin. Mom's been gone for five years now Dad. You need to get back out there. There's no one else besides Mom we'd rather see you with than Aunt Robin." I smile at that. "Good, because I'm going to head over to her place and ask her out on a date." They cheer as I rush out the door. They're old enough now to not need a babysitter.

  20 minutes later...

    I get to Robin's place with the famous blue horn in tow. I pound excitedly on the door. She opens it a minute later and grins when she sees the blue horn. "Will you Robin Scherbatsky go on a date with me?" She laughs and kisses me. "I take that as a yes." "Yes Ted Mosby, I will go on a date with you." 

      A few years later... 

      Robin and I got married. We built an addition of rooms seeing as I already have two kids and Robin as one. Between the kids and us, there are already five people in the house. We also have two dogs and a cat. Pets take up space too. Penny and Luke both go to NYU for college but live at home to save 15,000 dollars a year. Grace is in middle school. Seventh grade to be exact. Time flies by so fast. Before we know it, Penny and Luke will be graduating college and Grace will be graduating high school. I guess that's life for you. You only live once so you live life to the fullest, while abiding by the rules of course.
