chapter three

We were in Mike's hotel room. We were laying in bed talking about the baby. Everyone else went out to explore Europe. As we laid there, Mike rubbed my tummy.
"I can't wait to see it grow.", he said. I smiled and kissed him. I sat up and felt a sharp pain in my side. I touched it and groaned.
"What's wrong?", Mike said.
"I don't know. I'm going to the bathroom.", I said as I got up. Mike nodded. I stood up softly and slowly and the pain grew stronger.
"Fuck! Mike!", I yelled. He came up to me.
"Evelin, What's wrong?", he said.
"I don't fucking know. Walk me to the bathroom please.", I said. He took my hand and wrapped his arm around my waist and we walk to the bathroom. He sat on me on the toilet.
"I'll wait right outside the door.", he said as he walked out. I screamed in pain. The pain just grew bigger and bigger. I hit the wall next to me and scratched it. Then suddenly the pain faintly went away. I heard dripping from underneath. I sat still and breathed heavy. I put my hand under and brought it up to only see massive blood.

"Mike! Oh my god! Mike!", I yelled. Mike opened the door and his eyes went big when he saw blood.
"Evelin, hold on..", he said as he ran out and called for help.
"Hurry Mike!", I yelled. As he left, I sat there and cried. They only thing that went through my head was the baby.
"Oh my god!", I cried. After 2 minutes or so, the paramedics arrived.
"What's going on?", Mike said as they picked me up and laid me on the stretcher.
"Sir, please calm down. Ma'am, do you remember anything you've done to provoke this?", one of the paramedics said as we rushed out the elevator.
"No, I don't remember. I'm pregnant. I've been trying to do things right.", I said in between cries. They nodded and we rushed to the ambulance car. They quickly put me in and headed to the hospital.
"Mike, I'm so scared.", I cried. He took my hand and kissed it. Tears ran down his face.
"Its going to be ok babe. I promise.", he said. We arrived at the hospital and I was soon being hooked up to a machine.

"Ma'am, do you still have pain?", one of the nurses said.
"Yes, but very faintly.", I said as I touched my side. I was soon put in a room and a nurse came in and gave me an ultrasound.
"Alright, I'm going to check if everything is fine.", she said as she gel on my tummy. I flinched.
"Shit, that's cold.", I said and then covering my mouth realizing what I said.
"Oh, I am so sorry.", I said. The nurse laughed.
"Don't sweat it. It the same reaction I get every time.", she said. She quickly checked me.
"And you said you're pregnant?", she said. I nodded.
"Yes, I'm almost two months. Its our first child.", I said. Her face expression changed and she looked sad.
"Umm, the doctor will be here in a few.", she said and then walked out. I looked at Mike.
"Mike, she looked sad. Mike I'm scared.", I said as my voice crack. He kissed my forehead.
"It'll be ok.", he said. I gave him a weakly smiled and relaxed. I soon fell asleep.

The doctor came in and apparently, I've been sleeping for 2 hours.
"Ms. Torres, Mr. Fuentes. I have some...umm some bad news.", he said as he looked at his feet.
"Please doctor,", I said as I sat up.
"Please tell me I didn't lose my baby.", I cried. Tears ran down my cheeks.
"I'm sorry Mrs. Torres, but there was a lot of blood and well unfortunately, you had a miscarriage ...", he said. Tears blinded me.
"NO! NOT MY BABY!", I shouted as I kicked in the hospital bed. Mike took hold of me and hugged me tight. I broke down and cried into his chest.
"Mike...I'm so sorry.", I said. He took my face in between his hands.
"You didn't do anything. Its part of nature.", he cried. I cried harder and he hugged me tight.
"Doctor, is there a reason why I had the miscarriage?", I said as I took a deep breath.
"Well... there can be many reasons. Family heritage, your activity, stress...", he said.
"Stress. Jaime told me.", I cried again.
"Again, I'm sorry for your loss.", he said and walked out. I cried again in Mike's chest.
"Mike, everything is gone.", I said. He climbs into bed with me. His arms still tight around me.

"No babe. Don't say that. Its common to have this happen. I will always love you no matter what.", he said as he sniffed.
"Oh Mike...", I cried. He leans in and kisses me.
"Call the others. They probably are wondering where we are.", I said as I cuddled in his chest. He pulls out his phone and calls Vic. He puts it on speaker.

"Hello?", Vic said.
"Hey Vic...", Mike said as he tried to clean himself up.
"Hey brother where are you and Evelin? We bought her a little something for the little sea monkey.", Vic said. I started to cry again.
"Mike, why is Evelin crying? What's going on?", he said. I heard the others ask what's going on.
"Vic, we're at the hospital...", Mike said.
"Say no more. We're on our way.", Vic said and then hung up. I hugged him and he kissed the top of my head.
"We'll get through this. I promise.", he said.

After 30 minutes, Vic and the others rushed into our room. It was all quiet. The only noise that came was the machine connected to me and my sniffles. Danielle came over to me and took hold of my hand.
"Pretty little lady with the swollen eyes would you them to me...", she sang. I looked at her and tears escaped me again.
"Danielle!", I cried and she hugged me.
"Evelin, Mike, what happened?", Jessica said. They all stood next to the bed. I sat up.
"Guys...", I said in between my cries, "I lost the baby.", I said as my voice cracked. They stood in silence.
"Evelin...", Jaime said. I interrupted him
"I'm so sorry guys. I was so excited for this baby. You guys were super excited. And now, its gone. I thought the baby would have brought us closer and now.. gone.", I cried.
"Evelin, that baby could have brought us closer. But we are already so close to each other. We all love you so much.", Jaime said. I smiled.
"Thanks guys.", I said.
"Babe, we'll get through this together.", Danielle said. They all took my hand. I smiled.

I soon left the hospital and went to the hotel. Vic showed me the crib they bought for the baby and it made tears in my eyes. It was a circle crib with black frames. I smiled and tears rolled down my face.
"Thanks Vicky. I love it. But I think it'll just go in storage.", I said. He nodded and I gave him a hug. The boys had a concert tonight. We all got dressed and headed to the venue to fix it up. As the concert was about to start, I began to think of the baby again. I can't believe my chances of being a mom were gone. I walked over to a corner backstage and cried. I felt arms wrap around my waist.
"Baby, please don't cry anymore. You look beautiful in my t - shirt and your shorts right now.", Mike said and then kissed my neck.
"I can't get over the fact that I lost our baby Mike. I'm never going to forgive myself.", I cried. He turned me and his hands still at my waist.
"Don't say that. You didn't do anything to cause this. And there wasn't anything you could do.", he said. I looked at him. Tears in my eyes and fell down my face when I blinked.
"Now please don't cry.", he said as he wiped them. I took a deep breath and smiled.
"That's better.", he said. I smiled and kissed him on the cheek leaving red lipstick.
"There's a sign saying that you're mine. I don't need anyone stealing my man.", I said. He laughs and kisses me.
"Alright Mike, you're on.", Vic yelled. I smiled.
"Go kill them tiger.", I said. He laughs and gave me a quick peck before leaving. He runs on stage and began to bang his drums. I walked over to the side with Jess and Danielle. I looked over to the boys and lastly at Mike. He still had the kiss mark I gave him. I laughed and he caught me. He blew a kiss and I blew one back. I had the world's greatest man.

It was the boys last concert in Europe. We were in a mini van heading to the venue. I was in the backseat with Mike. Vic and Danielle were up front because Vic was driving and Jessica, Jaime, and Tony were in the middle. They were singing along to Single Ladies by Beyonce. It made me laugh on how Tony and Jaime were trying to copy Jessica's dancing. Of course, doing it all wrong. Just as the song and laughing ended, we passed a Baby R' Us. Everyone went silent.
"Evelin, you could have been 2 months by now.", Tony said as We all looked at the store. I looked down and my heart sank to feet.
"Tony!", Danielle said as she jumped to the middle.
"Tony, what the fuck man!?", she said and then punched him in the arm
"Yeah turtle. That was pretty low.", Jaime said. Jess shook her head.
"Evelin, I didn't mean to say that. I'm so super sorry.", Tony said as he turned to face me. I smiled and sniffed.
"It's ok turtle. I guess it wasn't my time yet.", I said as I touched his face. He takes my hands and kisses my palm.
"Evelin, you would have made an awesome mom.", he said. I smiled.
"Thanks Tony. And you would have been an a perfect uncle.", I said. He chuckles and I hug him.
"Hey, I would have made a perfect uncle too.", Vic said.
"Yeah me too. I could have teached him how to do his hair.", Jaime said as he touched his hair.
"Don't let Jaime touch any baby.", Vic said. We laughed and soon arrived at the venue.
