"Hey (y/n)! Do you want to watch Ant-Man with us after school?" Your group of friends from Chemistry class approached you. You hugged your textbooks tighter. Of course you wanted to go, it was Ant-Man! You were a big fan of Marvel. You smiled at them, "Sorry guys, I can't I have to study."
"Come on (y/n), it's a Friday! Plus we don't have school on Monday! You can study on that day!"
They tried to persuade you to join them after school. "I'm really sorry guys. We have an Additional Math test coming up so I have to study for that."
"It's two weeks later though."
"I'm sorry maybe the next movie?" You smiled and they decided to not force you any longer. "Aw (y/n), you're such a kill joy." One of them commented jokingly. You knew it was a joke but you felt hurt by it. "Well I'll see you guys on Tuesday." You waved at them and walked off.
"Hey (y/n)! Wait up!" You hear someone call your name and running behind you. You turned around to see your best friend, also crush, Hoseok. "Oh hey, aren't you going with the others for the movie? Didn't they ask you too?"
"Yea but I didn't say yes since you aren't going." He smiled, walking beside you as you headed to the bus stop. "You know you didn't have to do that, you can have fun without me."
Hoseok shook his head, "Nah but I won't have my best friend with me!" You smiled, "But you know I can't hang out with you alone right now, you know that right?" Hoseok nodded his head, "Of course I do. I just want to go home with you."
You were grateful to have Hoseok as your best friend. He was one of the few who you felt comfortable with to tell your problems. It took quite a long one for you to reach that phase but once you opened up to him, he was very open and comforting. Hoseok was your bestest friend and you had developed a crush on him. I mean, who wouldn't? He was caring, funny, a good dancer (while you were the opposite from that) and he was always there for you.
"What did your parents say about your previous test?" Hoseok asked. You shrugged, "Nothing actually. Just signed it and returned it to me."
"Well at least they didn't scold you."
"Yea it's good I guess."
The two of you alighted from the bus and walked down the empty road to your home. You pressed the doorbell and waited for someone to open the door. When the door opened, it was your father who looked unamused. "What took you so long?"
"Sorry my friends were asking if I wanted to watch a movie."
Her father didn't say anything, "I just received an email from your teacher on your class ranking list. Why did you drop to third place?"
You turned around to see Hoseok looking at you with a concerned expression. "You should go now." Hoseok nodded his head and he was about to give you a hug when you stepped in and closed the door. He was about to leave when he felt like staying to hear what was going to happen. He leaned against the wall that was next to a window, careful to make sure no one inside would spot him.
"I'm sorry I'll make sure I'll do better next time. I just made a careless mistake but I know how to do it."
"There's no room for careless mistakes (y/n)! I hope you learned your lesson from this."
"Yea I did."
"good now I hope you're planning to study."
You nodded your head and went into your bedroom. Hoseok squatted and waddled his way to where your room was. He sat on the grass patch and waited patiently. You entered your room and locked the door, once you heard the door from your parents' room closed, you dropped on your bed and started crying.
You had developed acute stress disorder. It affected you a lot whenever you start feeling stressed but you couldn't stop it. Your parents weren't informed about this since you went to the doctor alone. The truth was you were freaking out during the test and completely blanked out. You were panicking so much during the test but you were unable to stop yourself. You were calm on the outside but inside, it was like a ticking bomb.
You hated how your friends would joke that you're a kill joy when you wanted to hang out with them so badly to distress. But you couldn't. You muffled your cried with the pillows but Hoseok heard it. He took out his phone and texted you.
Hoseok - Hey! What are you doing now?
You heard your phone buzz and you read the message from Hoseok.
You - Oh just resting (: I'm gonna start studying soon! How about you?
Hoseok frowned upon reading your reply. He knew you were crying but you didn't want to tell him that. He knew you didn't want to make him worried. But he cared a lot for you. He wanted to be there when you're sad or angry or when you're on your period. Hoseok stood up and tapped on the window. You looked up to see him standing outside and ou wiped your tears away as you went to open the window.
"W-What are you doing here?" You sniffles softly, afraid your parents might hear you. "Just wait for me." Hoseok smiled and walked away.
You stared at the window, confused. Until you hear the doorbell. Your dad came out to greet Hoseok. "May I know what you are doing here?"
"Hi sir I'm here to study with (y/n), she's the smarted in Chemistry and she was assigned to tutor me because she's really smart."
"Ah is that so? Well then, come in." You farther opened the door wider to let Hoseok in. "(Y/n), your school mate is here for tutoring."
Hoseok went into your room and locked the door. "What a scary first encounter." He breathed out. You smiled, "What are you doing here?"
"I heard everything." He admitted, taking a sit beside you. He hesitated at first but placed his arm around you, trying his best to calm you down. "I know you can't control it but I'm here. You can let it out. You trust me right?"
After a short pause, you rested your head against him and started crying once again. "It's okay." He brought his other arm to hug you.
"I'm such a disappointment to them. My brother is in the top university studying medicine and I'm just third in class." You sobbed, finally letting it out to him. Hoseok stayed silent as you continue to pour out your suppressed feelings.
"I never make them happy. I'm sure they would have changed their daughter if they were given one chance. I just make them upset everyday and disappoint them every second."
Hoseok was upset to how broken you were. He knew about the pressure your parents gave you but he didn't realize how bad it was until that moment. "Hey hy (y/n), listen. You're not a disappointment at all. You're a blessing to them. You're brilliant and super smart. You shouldn't think of yourself that way. The teachers always praise you and say you're smart! You're always on the top part of the list while I'm average! You may not be perfect but I love every single bit of yo. Even your flaws." He spoke sincerely to you. The sincerity you were hearing made you feel so touched and emotional. You never heard your parents say anything close to that.
"You really think so?" You felt your cheeks heat up. Hoseok smiled, his facial expression suddenly changed to shock as he realized what he had said. "Uh... Y-Yea... Did I say love? I-I mean a-adore. Wait I mean—" you smiled and laughed at him. Hoseok gave you his charming contagious smile, "You laughed."
"I like you a lot (y/n). I care about you a lot and I'll be here by your side during your attacks. Even when you're on period."
You laughed a bit, "I like you too Hoseok. By the way I don't think you'll want to stay with me when I'm on my period." Hoseok shook his head, "I'll be there I promise."
You leaned your head against him and closed your eyes. "Thank you for being here with me when I needed it the most."
"Why wouldn't I? I want to make sure you're happy." He smiled to himself, glancing at you resting against him.
Hoseok was glad he went on stalker mode that day. He was glad to finally have you as his girlfriend.
