Three weeks.

Your team has been training for the relay race for three weeks. This was your first time participating in a school sports event since you never really saw yourself as a sport person.

You decided to sign up since it was your second last year in school and you wanted to participate more since you were graduating soon. You signed up for the 8x50m relay race since you figured you weren't that fast.

All the members in your group had never participated as well. Your group decided to time everyone and place the two fastest as the first and last. Surprisingly, you were placed last.

Your group had been practicing 3 times a week and had made a mistake to practice the day before Sports Day.

"My legs are aching!" You whined as you massaged your thighs. "It's your fault for not wearing the proper shoes yesterday." Hoseok cheekily replied. You turned to glare at him, "I know that. Don't remind me about it."

"Sorry ma'am!" He raised up his hands in defense. "I'm so nervous." You admitted as you watched the other events beside Hoseok. Your best friend, and crush, nudged you by the side. "Relax (y/n), I'm sure you'll do well! Don't worry. Plus, it's alright if you don't win."

"I'm really scared! What if I drop the baton? What if I couldn't even catch it in the firs—"

"(Y/n), (y/n)! It won't happen! You don't have to be scared! I'll be there cheering the loudest for my best friend! And of course the whole team." Hoseok puffed out his chest, smiling proudly.

"I'm counting on that!" You laughed.

It wasn't long until the runners for the 8x50m event had to report to the track. You and your team huddled in a circle and held each other's hands. "We hope that we can pass the baton successfully and run as fast as we can! Nonetheless, we will have fun and enjoy ourselves!"

"1,2,3, fighting!!" You all cheered loudly, feeling hyped up after that team cheer. 4 stood on one end while the other 4 stood at the other. You were hopping on your spot while cheering loudly for your friends as they dashed the 50m. Even though it was only 50m, it looked really long from where you were.

Your heart was pumping quickly and your hands feeling clammy as you saw the second last runner approach you. Your team was in second place and you didn't want to bring the group to third place.

"Go (y/n)!!" You heard someone shout extremely loud. Your head whipped to face the spectators to see Hoseok who had gone right to the front to cheer loudly for you.

Suddenly feeling even more motivated, you hear your classmate shout your name. You turned back and extended your arm out to receive the baton. The moment you felt it in your hands, you grabbed onto it tightly and sprinted as fast as you could. Your legs were aching from the previous practice but the sight of the first place runner near you and the loud cheers from your classmates made you push yourself more.

You managed to overtake the first place runner and heard your teammates cheering happily as they continued to shout your name.

You crossed the finishing line and slowed down. While you tried to walk around to catch your breath, your felt arms being wrapped around your neck. Your teammates had all ran to the other side after the race was over to congratulate each other.

"We did it! We actually got first place!!" You all cheered happily. As your group walked back to where the spectators were, your classmates came running down to congratulate your team.

The moment you saw Hoseok, you immediately ran up to him as his arms opened wide to hug you tightly. "You were great!!! So so great!! You overtook that girl!!! Wow!!" He lifted you up easily as you squealed in happiness from the fact that you actually won the first event you've ever participated in.

Without thinking, Hoseok gave you a quick kiss on the cheek. Suddenly, you were back on the ground staring at him in shock. 'Did he just kiss me on the cheek?' You thought to yourself, still processing that moment—

"(Y/n)! Let's go take a group picture!" Your team member called you. You turned to look at her and nodded your head, "Y-Yea!" You did not spare one glance at Hoseok and quickly jogged up to your team members to take a group photo.

Afterwards, you spent the remaining time with your other friends. You were too nervous and confused to talk to Hoseok at that moment. You would catch him looking at you while he talks with his other friends. You didn't want to make eye contact with him so you would pretend that you didn't see it.

"This is an announcement. May all prize winners Report to the stand in front. Thank you."

Your group got up and headed down to the awards stand, waiting for everyone to report down.

"Can you believe that we actually won?"

"I'm still in shock!!"

Your group was over cloud nine as you recalled the event awhile ago. The teachers got the school to settle down and one by one, you went up to receive your medals. Once everyone from your group received their gold medals, you all went back up to take another group photo.

"Hoseok-ah!" Your friend called and you froze while your back was facing them. "Can you help us take a group picture?"

"Oh yea sure!"

You all placed your arms around each other with your other free arm holding the gold medal up with pride and happiness. The whole time you just looked at the phone, you avoided making accidental eye contact with him at all cost.

"I want o see the picture!" You all crowded around the phone. While you were looking at the pictures, someone tapped you from the back.

"(Y/N), can we talk, please?" Hoseok asked in a soft and nervous voice. "Y-Yea sure." You nodded your head and left your group members.

The two of you were walking aimlessly around the grass patch surrounding the track. "I like you. A lot. For a long time. I'm sorry it was so sudden. I was just so proud of you and so happy—"

"Hoseok ah you don't have to apologize it's okay." You smiled at him. "But I ruined our friendship." He frowned sadly at you.

"Actually you didn't... I like you too." You said softly, looking at the grass as you two stayed in silence.

"You do?"

"Yea."

Hoseok started laughing and exclaiming at the same time. "Oh wow... You do? Ha... Oh my gosh. You... You like me too! Haha I wasn't expecting this wow." He brought his hands to his head as he walked back and forth still processing what you said to him. You just laughed at how cute he looked. "You can stop pacing now. It's true."

Hoseok faced you with a big bright smile and hugged you, lifting you up from the ground just like awhile ago. You wrapped your arms around his neck, hugging him back willingly. He placed you down and took your hand in his, "Will you be my girlfriend?"

Nodding you head eagerly, you replied, "Yes of course!!" Hoseok grinned and landed in to kiss you and you enjoyed your first kiss togethe a bit too much but that's alright.

"It's about time you two got together!!" You group members and his male friends approached. "We'll help you take a couple photo come on."

"Get on my back." Hoseok bent down. "What?" You asked, confused. "I'll give you a piggyback ride and we'll take the photo."

"No no I'm scared of those!" Ou pulled on his arm, trying to make him stand up. "Trust me (y/n)!"

"I don't want to fall!"

"You won't I promise!" He looked back to give you an assuring smile. Sighing, you hopped on his back carefully and immediately clung onto him. "Olay it's not that bad— oh my gosh I don't want to fall!" You screamed as he got up from the squat.

"Alright! Ready? 1,2,3!"

You two smiled happily at the phone and he carefully placed you back down afterwards. "See? That wasn't bad."

"Alright fine. I'll only do it if it's you carrying me." You grinned and he leaned in to kiss you on the cheek. "Deal."

"Now," he took your hand in his, "Let's go celebrate your gold medal!!"
