Chapter 9: Thank you

Previously...

My body kept sinking into the stormy waters, pushing me closer and closer to the rocky cliff. This is the end for me, I thought as I felt my life drain into the ocean as the water started to fill my lungs. I tried to stay conscious for as long as I could, trying to swim to the surface to get away from the rocks around me. However, a freak current caught my draining body off guard causing it to smash against a rock. That's when the world went dark, my last breath taken and my body lifeless as death began to run through my veins.

Lucy's POV

Deeper and deeper I swam into the abyss, searching for Natsu. But I couldn't find him and his pink hair anywhere. Until I came across a lifeless body, with red liquid surrounding it.

Natsu...

I swam as fast as my tail could take me, putting every ounce of strength and effort I could into getting to him. Once I finally reached his body I cupped his face and kissed him giving him as much air as possible, as I did so, memories piled into my brain. Flooding into my eyes as I relived every memory Natsu had told and more, I quickly shuck it off as I needed to save him, I don't care about the past no more, I need to make new memories with you and I need to keep my promise, I thought to myself as I put his arm around my shoulders and I wrapped my arms around his waist so I could get him to the surface. The air that I had gave him was being released quickly as his body stayed lifeless. Stay with me Natsu we are almost there... The surface of the water felt like it was an eternity away, but I continued powering on. Until we finally broke the surface and I jumped onto the ship still holding Natsu, many of the crew members stared in horror as they saw me in my true form.

"She's a... she's a mermaid!! The Captain has been searching for one for so long! Who thought it would be the blondie in the time of need!!" Someone yelled as I placed Natsu on the deck softly and I quickly checked for a heartbeat, as his blood started to leak out of a large gash on his back.
"SHUT IT BRAT! IT'S A COMLICATED SITUATION. NOW WE MUST SAVE THE CAPTAIN BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!" Erza yelled as she began to walk closer towards us as the crew flew up in arguments and rage about how Erza wasn't explaining the whole story and that they weren't being told the truth, whilst a mermaid sat upon there ship. Meanwhile I had found Natsu's heartbeat, however it was becoming fainter and fainter with every passing moment. "PLEASE STOP ARGUING AND HELP HIM!! PLEASE!" I yelled tears streaming down my face as Natsu's became paler.

Erza and Gray gave Natsu CPR hoping he will start breathing properly. Minutes which felt like hours past and he still hasn't moved. Quickly, I got one of my Celestial Spirits to bring me back my legs. As the rest of the crew were ordered to take care of the ship as the storm still battled on. "You should be careful next time, if you had spent any longer out of the sea with your tail you would have dried up and died," Loke lectured me as he changed my tail to legs and I quickly put my white dress back on.
"I'm sorry Loke, but Natsu is more important," I then closed his gate and ran towards Natsu's lifeless body. As I did he threw up a large amount of water,"Natsu!" I yelled as I wrapped my arms around him in a hard embrace."Don't ever do that to me again ok!!" I stated as I let him go out of the embrace and looked down into his dark eyes.
"Sorry Luce... I promise, it won't happen again," he said as he returned a reassuring hug. After he let go of the embrace and attempted to stand up. "We'll take you to the infirmary," I said not giving him an option.
"Luce, I'm fine honestly..." He muttered as he collapsed after attempting to rise.
"No your not," Erza then ran off to the crew members informing them about the situation as Gray searched for Wendy. As they did I helped walk Natsu to the infirmary and he then laid on the bed, as I sat beside him.

Natsu stared at me, as the storm clawed against the windows of the infirmary sounding as if a pack of lions where trying to get in through the windows. With Gajeel now steering the boat we were in safer and deeper waters, but the ship still rocked with the over powering waves almost making me fall of my chair. "Luce..."
"Yea," I muttered as I looked at his fragile body, blood still leaking from his injury.
"Do you remember?" He asked as water started to glaze over his eyes.
"I do," I answered as I held his hand as tears fell from his eyes.
"I've missed you so much," He cried as he sat up to hug me wincing in pain.
"I've missed you too, but u need to lay down your too injured to sit up," pushing him gently back so he was lying down against the bed, I cherished his forehead as he slowly drifted of to sleep.

After a while, Wendy was soon found and was in the infirmary healing Natsu."I'm sorry I took so long Lucy, but I will try my very best to heal him now," she insisted as she placed her hands over Natsu's sleeping body. After she had finished she looked at me with sadness lurking in her eyes,"Lucy I've tried healing him the best I can, however, he has a few broken bones that just won't heal properly. However, I have healed the rest of him but he won't b able to do anything for a while so can you help me move him to his bed please?" She asked as she gently woke him up.
"Captain, I have healed you to the best of my ability, however you have a broken arm, leg and a couple of broke. ribs but you will be fine within a week or two. They just won't heal 100% right now, I'm sorry,"
"It's alright Wendy," he said trying to cheer her up, as he ruffled her hair.
"We'll take you to your bed so you can rest," she stated as me and Wendy helped him to his room.

Once we got him to his bed, Wendy left to help the crew on deck whilst I stayed with Natsu."Are you feeling better?" I questioned as I pulled the bed covers over him to his neck to reduce his moment. "Yea, a bit better," he smiled softly as I sat on the corner of the bed.
"Natsu... Does Gray and Erza know?" I asked him as he looked into my eyes.
"Yea, but they're the only ones who remember you right now along with me and Mavis. It won't be long before the others remember.but umm... Luce change if subject but did... You... Kiss me?? When you saved me??" He asked as his face turned 50 shades of red.
"Y.. Y...yes. But I had to, to save you so that doesn't count dummy," I said as I looked away from him trying to not show my reddening face.
"Sure it doesn't," he teased as I started to head for the door that led out of his room."Wait Lucy," he said as I quickly turned around to face his battered body."Stay with me," he muttered as he patted next to him with his good arm.
Rolling my eyes I gently climbed into bed next to him, wrapping my arms around his waists lightly as I rested my head against his muscular defined chest lightly, trying not to hurt him.
"Happy?"
"Yea," he said as he pulled me closer with his good arm into a tighter embrace."Lucy... Thank you for saving me," he said as he kissed my forehead lightly as he drifted off to sleep with me following.
