"I hope he's okay."
I looked up from my phone, watching Calum's leg bounce up and down.
"It's not even our cat." I stated roughly.
Ashton sent me a look, setting his hand on his boyfriend's knee. They've been dating since freshmen year. 14 years now.
"He'll be okay." The 28 year old told the 27 year old, "The doctor said it wasn't as bad as it could've been."
Calum nodded and pecked Ashton's lips quickly. I rolled my eyes at their affection and continued to scroll through twitter.
"I wonder if he has a name." Cal said softly, letting Ashton's hand go over his.
"Hemmings, Hood, Irwin?"
Calum and Ashton immediately stood up, while I groaned and pushed myself out of the uncomfortable chair.
The young secretary brought us into a small office. A man maybe twenty years older than us stood on the opposite side of the desk.
Calum and Ashton sat down in the two chairs in front of the desk. I stood off to the side.
The man looked around the room, looking for a chair that wasn't bright orange with Dora on it and positioned in front of a pile of half working dolls and trucks.
"I'm sure we can find you a chair." He said, smiling at me and shooting the secretary a look.
"I prefer to stand." I stated, folding my arms across my chest and locking my jaw.
He nodded and shooed the secretary away. She obeyed and walked out, tightly shutting the door behind her.
"Gentleman. We have found something very strange about your cat." The man stated, moving now and letting me see his name tag on the desk.
"Is he okay?" Calum asked with concern. "We found him on the side of the road and nothing seemed strange."
"He will be fine." The man dismissed, "You found him on the side of the road?"
"Yeah. He fell off some big truck, some one ran him over and then I got to him." Calum replied.
The man hummed, "Was he acting strange before you brought him here?"
"Um, I don't believe so. We came almost right here..." Calum said, "He just kinda shivered like he was cold but hasn't made any sound."
He looked at Ashton before me, silently asking if we'd seen the cat do anything weird. I didn't say anything even though I had plenty of snarky stuff I could say. Ashton shook his head.
"Well, after many X-Rays we've found that the cat has human bones."
"But how is that possible?" Ashton spoke up this time.
"Well, many scientists have been tricking people, many teens stuck in orphanages or bad homes, into letting them do experiments on them. Now I wouldn't usually suggest this." The man glanced at the door and windows, "But this is certainly an unusual situation."
"A few scientists and I have been working on a reverse operation. It would not harm him in anyway. He would simply grow back into a human. We think that if you could, you three would be great to take care of him."
"For how long." I demanded roughly.
"A month at most." The man responded.
"We can do that." Calum stated, nodding at us both.
Ashton nodded slowly, rubbing his nose with the bottom of his palm.
"Alright. Great. But you all need to understand this stays between us four and the few scientists I know." The man stated, "Alright?"
"Alright." Ashton and Calum chorused.
The man looked over at me now.
"The sooner its out of the house the better. Just get working."
