I was a dead girl walking.
That's what one becomes when one pisses off the McArthur High Royalty. Especially if the Royal in question is Ryan Carter.
Pushing these worries to the back of my mind, I tried to focus on the english work we were given. English was my favourite subject, but with Lissie at the nurse's office, it was an utter bore.
I really didn't feel like essay writing today.
Maybe Nita could help me catch up later. I began to plan it all out in my head, she could come over tomorrow or today, but I'd have to beg Mum heaps for it to happen, because she hates any plans made less than three days before the event date. But maybe once she hears the words 'homework' and 'study' she'll cave.
My planning came to a halt when I heard Mr. Ferguson's voice.
"Ms. Willis, you are extremely late," he snapped.
This, however, didn't have any effect on our cheerful Lissie as she simply smiled and replied in a genuinely sweet and gentle voice.
"I was at the nurse's office, sir."
"Fine, take a seat and get to work. The instructions are on the board."
As Lissie sat down, I felt the intense heated glare of someone on me. Whipping around in my seat, I snapped at the culprit. "What is it?"
And that's when I made eye contact with his brown irises. Oh no. Oh no no no no!
I turned to face Lissie who's horrified look matched mine.
I then moved my gaze to him, he simply glared at me, then returned to his work.
I returned my gaze to a very curious Felicity Willis.
"Why is he glaring at you? Talk about hostile," she whisper shouted.
"I can hear you," a voice from behind me coughed angrily.
I grimaced at Lissie's poor whispering skills and ignored Ryan.
"I'll tell you at lunch," I promised.
"You better."
She, like me, needs to learn how and when to whisper because Mr Ferguson interrupted us.
"Ms. Willis, Ms.Williams, does there seem to be a problem?"
"No Sir," we simultaneously answered.
I met her eyes one last time and mouthed 'lunch time' before staring at my empty page for another half hour.

As I entered the rowdy cafeteria, I heard a shout.
"Linda! Get your ass over here!" Taylor's booming voice shouted across the cafeteria. Sighing inwardly, I manoeuvred through the round tables filled with students.
Oh, how I wish someone could save me now.
Nearing the table, all eyes were on me.
"Um...hey guys. What's up?" I broke the sudden silence.
"What's up?! What's up?! That's all you have to say?! You have some serious explaining to do Linda!" Lissie's outraged voice was the first to protest, earning a few curious looks from people at nearby tables.
Once again I sighed, this time in hopelessness, as I sat down in the closest plastic red chair.
"Ok...so this morning after I said bye to you guys, I kinda got lost in my thoughts and didn't look where I was going. I then unfortunately bumped into Ryan, who I'm pretty sure hates my guts now."
My breath was bated as I sat still, waiting for the uproar.
3....2....1
Suddenly, a very predictable clamour of voices flew into my ears, with questions and profanities such as "Wait WHAT?!" and "WHAT THE FUCK, LINDA?!"
That last one was obviously Taylor.
My fringe flew up as I huffed in frustration. I knew they'd take this way too seriously, but I still wasn't prepared for the aftermath of my story.
I opened my mouth to hush their incessant berating when...
...a ridiculously nasal voice floated its way into my ears.
I shut my eyes in frustration and defeat, knowing there was no way I was going to escape this.
"Look at Melinda, getting assaulted by her very own friends. Have they finally realised what an utter disappointment you are?" Sabrina smiled innocently, her eyes dancing in delight.
My eyes popped open and I snapped like a glow stick, the stress and worries of the day proving to be too much.
"You know what, Sabrina? You can go take your posse to the bathroom. Who knows, they might be able to finally pull out whatever crawled up your ass and died. After all, it is only ten years overdue."
I heard gasps from all around me, the whole year level having heard my rage rant.
Oh. No.
So much for staying invisible for the rest of my high school life.
In a panic, I glanced at everyone on my table. Nita was snickering, not even bothering to hide it. So typical. Lissie, Sam and Ley all had their mouths covered with their hands, in total shock.
Taylor looked amused, but he hid it well.
And then there was Jacko. Jacko was a special case because, well he rues the existence of Sabrina. So, to say he was enjoying this was an understatement.
He was absolutely loving it. He was guffawing so loud, it echoed off the walls. Noticing the shocked silence of the cafeteria, he stopped abruptly and cleared his throat.
With a indignant huff, Sabrina stomped off, her minions following the Queen.
Which left all eyes on me.
"What the fuck are you all gawking at? Move on with your lives, pathetic bitches!" Taylor's voice pierced the silence and everyone instantly clambered to continue eating their lunches.
When the bell rang, and everyone got ready for class, I felt like there was less weight on my shoulders.
But it was still there.
