The day of the Fall Festival, I woke up at 11am to the sounds of slamming cupboard doors drifting up the staircase from the kitchen. Groggily, I got out of bed and rubbed at my sleepy eyes. Soon enough Nita's loud voice reverberates around the house as she yells up at me.

"Linda get your lazy ass down here!"

"Coming!" I yell back, slowly walking to my bedroom door. I trudged down the stairs, my footsteps slow and heavy with exhaustion. As I entered the kitchen, Nita turned around to face me, a relieved smile pulling at her lips.

"Ah, thank the heavens! Go get dressed, we're meeting the others at the festival."

"Umm, what?"

"Oh my lord, Linda remember yesterday we agreed on the group chat that we'd meet at the festival at 11:15am?"

"Oh...ok, but can I eat first? And don't you have to pick up Summer?"

"We'll grab something along the way, you're too slow of an eater. And she bailed on us. Now go!"

After changing rapidly, pulling my hair into a messy bun, and grabbing my keys and wallet, I jumped into Nita's car and she drove us to the festival, which was taking place on the street of our school.

"They're selling donuts and cookies at the festival this year, you can grab one of those for brekkie," Nita informed me, taking a sharp left turn to the school. My mouth began to salivate at the thought of all the baked goods there will be at the festival.

We spent ten minutes looking for a car park in the school parking lot, then we wandered the stalls looking for our friends. If we wanted to buy food we'd have to be quick, the street would be cleared at 12pm for the Fall Princess to travel down the street in her pompous float.

To say our school went all out for the Fall Festival was an understatement.

Finally Nita spotted them, and she viciously tugged my arm, pulling me along with her. As she called out to them, she waved her free arm wildly.

"Hey guys! Sorry we're late, this one was still in bed when I went over to pick her up."

"Hey!" I smacked Nita on the arm in mock offense.

"Ok weirdoes, let's go buy some food," Lissie rolled her eyes.

"Mmm," Taylor hummed, clearly hungry.

We all set off to the food stalls, and when we reached the donut stall I fished around in my wallet for coins, eyeing up a delicious looking strawberry frosted donut.

"Hello dears. How may I help you?" the kind old lady behind the desk inquired, a soft smile lighting up her features.

"Hi, could I get a strawberry frosted donut please?" I replied, smiling politely.

"Sure thing!"

She grabbed the donut with a pair of tongs, and placed it in a small brown paper bag, holding her arm out for me to grab it. I took the donut and smiled at her, uttering my thanks and stepping out of the queue. I bit into the scrumptious donut as I waited for the others to buy their food. Once everyone was done, we set off down the street. As we neared the churro stall, men in fluoro vests began shouting into their megaphones for everyone to get off the street. We scurried towards the churro stall, and leant against it, waiting for the show to begin.

By show, I of course meant Sabrina showing off and smiling her obnoxious ass off.

The crowd hushed as the big red float came into view, with brown, orange and yellow decorations adorning the sides. Two trees flanked a bright red, plush seat, symbolising a throne. There Sabrina sat, her canary yellow dress cascading around the seat in waves. Even though I hated her, even I had to admit she looked exhilaratingly pretty. I heard gasps and 'oohs' as the crowd took in her appearance.

Sabrina waved her arm leisurely, with all the grace of a queen. She smiled sweetly, her back straight and poised elegantly. After the massive float had left the immediate area we were in, we decided to continue our search for food.

"Wanna go somewhere after this?" Jacko asks everyone.

"Sure, why not?" Nita replies, everyone else murmuring their agreement.

After we get our food, we all head off to the nearest park, chattering away joyously. At one point Ryan, Sam, Taylor and Jacko got too invested in their conversation and we had to shout at them to shut up- or as Nita had put it, "Shut the fuck up you motherfuckers!"

As soon as the park came into view, I raced the others to the swings, grinning triumphantly when I successfully fell into one of the swings.

"Ha! Suckers," I stuck my tongue out childishly, Lissie and Ley rolling their eyes at me.

Suddenly Nita gasped, almost dropping her phone.

"What's wrong Nita?" I asked, everyone looking at her curiously.

"Umm, The Lying Serpent just posted again," Nita trailed, her eyes still glued to her phone.

"Is it about me?" I inquired, breaking the short silence.

"No, not at all..."

Nita handed me her phone and what I saw shocked me. There on Nita's Instagram feed was a picture of Sabrina in her stunning dress, smiling and waving at the crowd. And there, in the caption?
