Happy Friday! Here's an update 9(yayayayay)

"What do you mean you can't come? Both of you?" I sighed.
It's been two weeks since Summer had confessed to us. Luckily for us, Nita, ever-observant, had been waiting outside with the others and had seen Summer enter the school and knew something was up. She followed Summer and managed to record everything she said. Thank goodness for paper-thin walls and Nita's killer instincts.
Summer had been fined for the distribution of media without people's consent, and she had been expelled and sent away to God knows where.
Now, I was trying not to kill Nita and Sabrina as they had both bailed on our lunch date. "So, I'm eating alone?"
"No actually, Ryan was meeting up with us as well, so I guess you'll have to eat with him. Have fun!" And with that Nita hung up.
I entered the cozy cafe, searching for Ryan. Not seeing him anywhere, I plonked down in a table hidden in the corner of the room, relaxing in my seat. Two minutes later, Ryan landed with a thump in his chair, making me jump.
"Oh my God, don't do that! You scared the shit out of me."
"Sorry. Where's Nita and Bri?"
"Um, they both got held up and called to say they can't come."
"Oh, ok. So, wanna eat something?"
"I could really go for a croissant and good cup of-"
"Cappuccino?"
"Yeah," I laughed, surprised he remembered my favourite drink.
"I'll go buy them," he pushed his chair back, ready to go up to the counter.
"Wait!" I stopped him, holding out a some dollar bills. "I'll pay for my own."
"Nah, it's fine," he refused. I frowned.
"You can't pay for me. That's not on."
"Fine, but next time I'm paying ok?"
"Hmmm...nah," I laughed, sticking my tongue out. He shook his head as he made his way to the counter.
After five minutes he came back with my cappuccino and croissant, and a piece of tiramisu cake and mocha that I assumed were for him.
"Thanks," I smiled, grabbing my food from him.
"No problem."
I dug into the croissant, savouring the light and fluffy pastry. It's been so long since I've had one of these.
"You look like you're in heaven or something," Ryan laughed.
"Well, this croissant might as well taste like heaven, it's so good!"
"I might have to try it one day."
I tore off a chunk for him. "There ya go."
"Oh, uh thanks."
"No problem."
"So, how's Tommy?"
"He's alright, much better than before. I can't believe how much he's changed. Mum is still intolerable and I miss Dad terribly. How's your little sister?"
"Eve is good, still obsessed with chess."
"That's good though, right? I mean, someone needs to make you smarter somehow."
"Haha, very funny."
"I know I am."
We finished up our food and left the cafe, stopping just outside the doors.
"So, I'll see you tomorrow at school?"
"Yep, see you then."
As we parted ways, I smiled to myself, happy my life was somewhat back on track.
