Sorry if you guys get another notification, I just realised, I forgot the dedication! So, this is dedicated to alpwrites, a bookstagram buddy that despite not knowing me well, she still offered to read this story and show her support, and for that I'm so grateful <3 :)

I growled in frustration as the engine sputtered once more, banging my hand on the steering wheel.

The horn tooted, followed by a knock on my window. I jumped in fright, twisting around to see who was there.

Ryan stood with an irritated look, gesturing for me to get out. Confused, I simply stared at him, a blank look on my face. This simply angered him further as he growled and gestured again. Not wanting to risk angering him further, I gestured for him to move and got out.

"What do you want?" I huffed.

"Keep talking like that, and I'm not going to give you a ride," he grunted.

"You...want to give me...a ride?"

"Yes, now are you going to accept the offer, or not?"

"Ok, ok, geez. Can I just call my Mum to deal with my car?"

"Fine, do it in the car or we'll be late."

I complied, following him to his car while dialling my Mum's number. She was going to flip. And I mean flip. Whether it be about the car or the fact I'm going to be late to school, I was dead. Maybe I should save her the trouble and just dig my own grave and lie in it forever.

With my phone to my ear, I hopped into his car without a second thought. Right now, all I cared about was getting through this phone call without getting killed.

"Ok, hurry Ryan and- wow these seats are really comfy," I said.

Ryan simply scoffed and shook his head in disbelief. Mum picked up and I braced myself for my death.

"Linda? Is something wrong?" she asked, concern laced in her voice.

"Um, hi Mum. So, I need a little favour," I squeaked. Ryan glanced at me from the corner of his eye, trying to keep his eyes on the road.

"What is it?" The worry was evident in her voice.

Biting my lip, I relayed the whole story to Mum. As soon as I finished, I pulled the phone away from my ear. Ryan looking irritated and confused, jumped in shock when my Mum's shrieking voice pierced the quietness of the car. It was so comical, I couldn't stop the giggles escaping. This was a huge mistake, as my Mum was still on the phone. Her shrieking grew in decibels, erasing the image of Ryan being scared out of his wits from my mind. Even Ryan stopped glaring at me, trying not to die from Mum's inescapable lecture.

"Do you think this is funny?" she demanded.

"No mum," I whispered.

"That's right young lady, it is most definitely not funny. You hear me?"

"Yes Mum."

"You and I will continue this conversation at home, young lady."

"Ok Mum. Bye."

Mum sighed before speaking softly. "Bye, Linda. Stay safe and get to school on time."

"I will." She hung up and I put my phone in my pocket.

"Your Mum really knows how to scream, huh?" Ryan asked.

I glanced at him in surprise. I wasn't expecting him to strike up a conversation.
