The sun was peeking through the shutters when I open my eyes. I stretch and my body cracks noisily. I groan at the sound of it. What else should I expect after spending a night in a sleeping bag on the hard cement floor of my new home?

I turned over to see framed picture. I picked it up. The photo was of my mom, dad, and a 6-year old me at the beach. A photographer that came to take pictures of the beach took a picture of us, saying "You are such a beautiful family..." and "I felt this moment needed to be captured and treasured forever..." The man gave us the picture and told us not to pay for it. We thanked him and he walked away as if his work there was already done.

We have treasured the photo since, putting it in a handmade picture frame from kindergarten and everything. The photographer was really good at his job. He captured the sunlight and our natural pose perfectly, and even managed to capture the love and magic in it as well. He was right. We do have a beautiful family.

Who knew a car crash could shatter something so beautiful.

It was a year ago when they died. I had just graduated college when I got a phone call from Aunt Sunday telling me the news of the car crash.

It was really sad, yes. Aunt Sunday was the nearest relative I had, so I lived with her for a while. It was dark and rainy the day we had the funeral for both of them, like the world attended the funeral too.

To be honest, I'm broken. But everyone is broken at some point in their lives. But I never show it. Dad tells me if someone sees you frown, they will frown too. I just smile and try to find reasons to smile.

Aunt Sunday still worries about me and tries to get me to go to counseling, but I just assure her I'm fine and there's nothing to worry about.

Because I'm... okay.

A/N A longish chapter for the last short one
