Oh, Irene... Where is he? Zane, please get into some complication on the way here...

I stare worriedly at the entrance to the cafe. It's not that I don't want to see Zane. It has been a while since we've been able to hang out. It's just that I don't want him to see... this.

I look down at my uniform. A short, fitting (*wutever color u want*) maid's dress and long, thin socks that reach past my knees. I do love how Kawaii~Chan made it look. It's adorable and it makes me feel a bit cuter. But the dress is also a bit... racy. What would Zane think about it?

At the cashier, I take a customer's order when a tiny bell rings, indicating that either a customer left or just came in. My eyes glance over to the door. I see Zane standing at the entrance, looking around.

For me.

My heartbeats accelerate as I try to focus on my customer's order.

"Alright, so th-that'll be $4.75, please." The customer hands me a $5 bill.

Oh cripes, he saw me.

"Thank you. Your order will be ready in, ah... ten minutes."

Ahh! He's walking over here right now! Irene, what do I do? What do I do??

Out of anxiousness, I start fiddling with the notepad on the counter used to take orders.

"Hey, Y/N."

I yelp at the sudden sound of his voice and his presence. I look up to see Zane, equally surprised but with confusion.

"Oh, Zane!" I said. "S-Sorry. But geez, you didn't have to surprise me like that..."

"What? I saw you saw me at the entrance. You know I'm here."

"Yeah, but then I was... busy. Er, anyway..." I straightened up and looked him in the eye, trying to regain my composure. "What would you like to order?"

"Are you doing okay?"

I look up at him in alarm. Is there something wrong with me? Is it my jittery behavior? Agh, he probably thinks I'm going insane or something!

Before I could say something, Zane continues, "I couldn't stop thinking about the time you got drunk and I want to make sure you're okay."

I silently sigh in relief and I give him a reassuring smile. "I'm doing alright, Mom. Work these days is keeping my mind off... that. You really shouldn't be worrying about me. I'm a big kid now."

Zane laughs at my sarcastic response. Zamn, his laugh makes me feel really good.

"Okay, I get it. I'm a bit overprotective." He scoffs when I raise my eyebrows at "a bit."

"... okay, I'm really protective. But you're my closest, and only, friend. You give me something to care about and I enjoy caring for you. Plus, I can't imagine losing yo- ... someone like you."

With those words I feel like floating up to the ceiling. Even though he's told me how much  of a good friend I am, I still can't imagine that this is the person I am to him. I feel so happy and I just want never want to leave him alone. He doesn't know how much he means to me. I really should let him know.

"Zane, I--"

"AHEM!!"

My abruptly turns toward the angry customer to my right.

"Is my order ready??"

I glance down at the counter to see the bag the customer was waiting for. I turn red and I lift up the name tag clipped onto the bag. "Cas... tor?"
