When I arrived at hotel dumort, it was after sunset, so when I banged my fist on the old wooden door around the back I had my witchlight, in my hand, so I could see.
When nobody opened the door, I started knocking louder.
The door opened mid knock, causing me to stumble, slightly, before being steadied by a pair of strong, cold hands.
"Bexley, it is nice to see you. It's been quite a while" his voice was strong but kind.
"Hello, Raphael, how are you?" I smiled at my friend and was awarded of a grin that reviled his fangs."Well, considering I am dead, I think I am lucky to be undead as well" he joked. Raphael and I met around two years ago, in a park, late one night, while I was on a walk, and we became instant friends.
"Come," he said extending his arm "Camille is waiting, she has been talking about this meeting since you contacted us. She likes you, but don't tell her I said that. She'd kill me again" he said with a wink, as I took his arm.
He lead me down the long winding halls of the hotel, some of the other vampires turning to greet me.The relationship I have with the downworlders, is odd, I will admit, most Shadowhunters separate themselves from the downworlders, see themselves as better. I don't see it.
I have come to know many of the downworlders Of New York. From vamps to seelies, to the werewolves.
And with Camille, I got lucky. As she wasn't a very nice being. But, she had a soft spot for me. Even if I didn't love her, I didn't hate her.
Of course, not all downworlders liked me. Not even close. Some of the werewolves around New York hated me. And the seelies and I, we were never close like the vamps and I.
The seelies mostly just put up with me more often then they do with any other Shadowhunters.
I was snapped out of my thoughts when Raphael spoke.
"Bex? Bexley?"
"Yes?" I look at him tilting my head up slightly
"Have you heard a single thing I have said?"
"You were talking? Oh my god. I am so sorry"
With that he only chuckled and opened the door to Camille's chambers."Camille, your guest is here" Raphael called out into the dim lighting.
"Ah! My little Devil! How are you?" Camille purred, gracefully gliding towards me.
"I'm good, Camille. Thank you, But, sadly, I'm not here to catch up" I made clear, letting go of Raphael's arm and hooking my thumbs in my belt loops.
"No, no, of course not! Not with what a busy little devil you are!" I chuckled at her. She had always called me her little devil, as she said, I'm wonderful to look at, but, make me mad and I would burn the world to ash to get what I want.
"So," she lead me over to the blood red couch to sit "what brings you here? You wouldn't tell me over message"I was sitting on the impossibly comfy couch, with my feet tucked under me, facing Camille, who sat, legs crossed, on the other side of the small couch, twisted to be looking at me.
Raphael was closer to me, standing at a small bar fixing drinks."Well, Cam," that was what I called her when we were apart from anyone else, other then Raphael "mundane's are being killed and drained of blood"
As I finished her face twisted into one of anger and shock, I had never before accused her clan of anything that wasn't proved, not that I was now. But I guess it seemed so.
"And you think my people have something to do with that?" She was sitting up straight now. And Raphael had frozen, watching to make sure if Camille made a move at me he could lunge in and get me out.
"No, not at all, Camille, I trust your clan. I really do" I said, still relaxed, but ready non the less. But I knew, if she tried anything, I could easily jump up and be ready. But I also, above all else, trusted that Raphael would be on my side, to make sure I wasn't hurt.
"I'm just gathering ideas, seeing if anyone has any leads I can follow" I said still leaning back into the pillows. "And I'm not just talking with you about this. I have a meeting tomorrow with the head of the New York wolf pack. I'm also meeting with the high warlock of Brooklyn as well. And I'm meeting with the seelie queen later this week. I just figured you'd like to be the first, as I know you like to be informed"
At this Camille nodded and relaxed back into her seat, and Raphael continued making drinks.
"Well, I do like to be the first to know. But why would I know anything?" She raised an eyebrow, taking the Bloody Mary Raphael had just handed to her.
"Well, information seems to make its way through the down world quite fast. I thought, maybe, you may have heard of somthing to go off of. Thank you Raphael" I thanked as Raphael handed me a steaming mug of sweet coffee that they kept on hand for my visits.
"I have been told of rumors. Not of whom, but of what has been happening" Raphael spoke up.
We talked for over a hour before my phone went off.
"Yes, Jace?"
"I need you're help, Raz. It's important" his voice was one I had come to know as one of seriousness, which worried me. Jace was never serous."What happened? Are Izzy and Alec okay? Are you hurt?" I jumped to my feet, taking a couple steps away from my vampire friends.
"Just come out, I'm outside the hotel, I'll explain on the way"
"Why are you at the hotel?" I furrowed my eyebrows
"Just come out, will you?" With that he hung up.I turned on my heal to face the vampires, who were watching me with interest.
"Well, as much fun as this is, I have to go, Jace needs my help"
"Ah, yes, go, my little devil from heaven, help your charming angel boyfriend" Camille grinned a sly grin as she called jace my boyfriend.
"He's not my boyfriend. See you soon. Take care" I waved as I bolted down the halls.I made it to the doors and pushed them open, then slamming behind me, I whipped my head around to see jace leaning on the wall of the hotel.
"What happened? Are you hurt?" I asked, rushing over to him and checking him for cuts or wounds.
"No, Raz I'm not hurt. Izzy and Alec are fine, I need help with something else" he said standing straight, crossing his arms.
"Then what do you need my help with?" I asked tipping my head to the left in curiosity.
"A mundane"
"A mundane? What you want me to get you a date or something?"
"What?" He asked, not expecting my answer "no I am very much capable of getting my own dates. And no, not like that, this mundane could see us""So she had the sight?"
"Yes"
"Wow. That's not very common"
"I don't think she's a mundane. The seraph blade lit up when she touched it"
My eyes widened to the size of frisbees,
"Well, what are you waiting for, Jace? let's go get us a mundane!" I said, bouncing up and done on the balls of my feet a bit. It'll be nice to have a third girl around. I love izzy. She's my parabatai, but she can be a bit over the top sometimes, but I love her. And plus, who doesn't want more friends!
