"I'll join you"

I now sat on my bed, staring down at the ring in my hand

I now sat on my bed, staring down at the ring in my hand. Valentine had given it to me, saying to keep it hidden, as he needed me on the inside, and when I needed to contact him, all I had to do was put it on my finger and twist it.

I'm still not sure how it works. Or how I got here. Going against everything I know. Everything I've ever stood for, believed in. How did I get to such a place? A place where I've lost  who I am? Lost what I know. I've lost Jace. And I'm close to loosing Alec and Isabelle. I'm hoping that Valentine will let them live. Though I doubt it, he's not a very merciful soul. But for now they're safe. And for now, that's all I need to focus on. Keeping them safe. Keeping them alive.

The ring was simple enough, just a silver band, with an angelic Rune and a silence Rune engraved in it.

I was yanked from my thoughts when a knock came from my door, making me quickly hide the ring in my pocket, before opening the door, to see Izzy's face.

"Jace called"
"What did he want now?" I broke eye contact.
"He wanted to make sure you were okay"
"Well, here I am"
"So, what happened at the grave yard?"

"Look, I don't have time for this right now, Iz, I have work to be done"

{Clary's POV}
As I watch Bex stomp away, I realize, she was right.

I had dragged Simon into this, and then made it all about me, then, ignored him when he needed me most.

And I don't blame Bexley for hating me. I mean, I did kiss Jace right in front of her. I would hate me, too.

Not ten minutes later, the ground started to tremble.
"Here he comes" Raphael says.

As my best friend dug his way from the dirt, Jace held me back.

Once Simon was out Raphael tossed him  a bag of blood, which he sucked down.

"Clary? What's going on? Is that blood?!"
"Simon-"
"Am I a vampire?"
"Si-"
"I am! I'm a monster!"
"No you're not, you're my best friend, you're Simon Lewis, the lovable, nerdy, smart, caring, Simon you've always been!" I tried to reach my hand out to him, but he flinched back.

"No! Stay away! I don't want to hurt you!" With that he used his new vampire speed to run off.

"Don't worry, I'll watch over him" Raphael spoke up, for the first time since Simon rose.
"Thank you, Raphael" I thanked him.
"Don't thank me" his face darkened when he looked at me, which surprised me. "I am not doing this for you, Fairchild. I am doing this for my friend, who if you have forgotten, you just upset. And Bexley has taken quite the shine the the fledgling"

I didn't say anything, I just looked at my feet, as he vampire sped after Simon.
"Do you want to do after him?" Jace asked.
"Yes" I nodded.

Jace and I took off running, in the direction the two vampires had gone.

{Bexley's pov}

I was currently in the training room, beating the daylights out of a training dummy. I was wearing a pair of black shorts and a black undershirt with a leather jacket over, to hide my wings. I guess that's what I'm calling them now.

Iz asks about them every chance she gets.
"Are your wings still there?" Or "has anything else shown up?"

I was beating the dummy when a female voice spoke.
"Hey" I turned towards it.

"Oh," I scowl, when I see who it is "it's you"
"Yeah. It's me" Lydia Branwell stood at the edge of the mat "look, I get why you don't like me, I mean, I wouldn't like me either"

She took a breath while I walked down off of the mat, coming to stand with her.
"I'm not asking to be welcomed into the family with open arms, I'm not expecting love. Or respect. Or trust. But I would like to earn it" she looked straight into my eyes. "And seeing as you seem to be the glue to the group-"

"I'm not the glue" I cut her off
"Oh"
"Why would you think that?"
"Well, you're Isabelle's paraptai, Alec is incredibly fond of you, you even seemed to Welcome clary with a smile, and Jace, well, he's open with you, he cares for you, trusts you. But I guess that comes with the whole sibling thing, huh?" She laughed dryly, I along with her.

"I guess"
"Look, I'm just asking for a chance. Please?"

I chewed my lip as I looked at her, her blue eyes so wide and hopeful, her fingers played with her pen. She really just wanted a chance. A chance to have a family. A chance that the Lightwoods gave Jace and I. And now Alec was giving one to Lydia, but it wouldn't be real when his family hated her.

"When Alec told us you were engaged, we were all angry. Really, really angry," when I emphasized this, hurt and disappointment took over her face, but she tried to hide it "but, You know, years and years ago, the lightwoods gave me a second chance to have a family, then, ten years later, they gave Jace a second chance, too."

"Alec is a good man. a stubborn, bastard, sometimes, but always a good man. And it's in his blood, giving second chances. But he would never offer a chance to someone who would bring harm to any of us."  I offer a small smile

"The lightwoods have been the only family I've known. Isabelle was the same age as me when I came, so we don't really remember a time that we were apart, Alec does, but he accepted me into the family, Robert and Maryse, they raised us, in between trips to Idris of course, Hodge, he was always there, telling us what we could do better, and how proud he was. Then came Jace, that ten year old Jace, that stepped out of that portal. He became family. Then Max was born"

I realize I had wandered over to sit on the floor, and Lydia had followed.

"The lightwoods gave me a chance. A chance no one else even offered. The thing is, Lydia, they say, you don't get to choose your family, but the truth? You do, the lightwoods chose me, they chose Jace. And now, Alec chose you" I smiled at the blonde beside me, who had a smile three time the size of mine.
"And I've never been good with people, trust and all that. But, you came to me, even when, I was only hostile to you, that proves, that you are worthy of my trust, respect and love. And Alec's. Alec chose wisely"

I took her hand in mine.
"That's why, right now, in this moment, I am taking the chance that the lightwoods gave me all those years ago, and giving it to you. Because I think, you'll do great things given the chance"

Lydia and I sat there, on the floor, silently, for awhile. Just glad there was no more hostile feelings between the two.
Until Lydia spoke

"Would you like to be my maid of honor, Bexley?"
"Really?"
"Yeah!"
"Of course!" We giggled like school girls.

"What's so funny?" We turned our heads to see Max walking towards us, his hands in his pockets.
"Oh, we were just talking about the wedding, Max"
"You two are getting married?!"
