AN
SO, just to make this clear, Max is eight, in this story, Isabelle, clary and Simon are eighteen, and Alec is twenty.
Now, in all the past flash backs, Bex has been said to be a year younger then Jace, but, as it turns out, she's not(due to finding out that she's a Wayland). So, they are both nineteen. Almost twenty.

(3rd POV)
(Flash back to six years before meeting Clary)

Max, one year of age, sat on the floor of Bexley's room, playing with a basket of plastic food the girl had bought for him, and eating cookies out of a bowl that sat next to him.
"Hum pay wit me boopsie" as he spoke, crumbs flew out of his mouth, but the girl could only smile at him.

"I would love to play, knuckles, but I have work to do. I can't fail, now can I?"
"But I make soup!" The toddler held up the toy bowl that he had put the play food into, proudly showing the girl the 'soup'
"I know who would just love some soup" the blonde said, making the boys face light up with glee.

"Who?"
"Jace loves soup!"
"Soup!" The child claps, giggling.
"I'll be right back!" She stood, gliding across the hall to said boys room.

"Jace?" She knocked
"Yeah?" He flung the door open, grinning at her.
"You hungry?"
"Not if izzy's cooking"
"No, iz didn't make it. Come on"

The two walked into her room, and before jace could even ask about the food, a bowl of plastic was thrown at him.
"Soup!"
"Soup?" Jace asked, perplexed
"Soup" Bexley nodded.
*short time skip*
Jace had been playing with the 'tiny human' as he called him, for over an hour, not realizing, eleven year old Bexley had fallen asleep on her bed, until the toddler crawled over, and started to fuss for 'Boopsie'.

So he lifted him onto the bed, sitting next to them, on the end of the bed, as the baby curled up into the girl, who, purely from maternal instinct, wrapped her body around his.
Jace soon, too, drifted off.

To be found hours later, by Robert, who showed His wife, and they found the sight to be priceless.

(End of flash back)

The youngest lightwood's eyes were wide, he wasn't aware that a girl could marry another girl.
And he thought Alec had said that he was marrying Lydia? And what about all those times that Jace had said to Max that he loved Bexley?

"Is that aloud?" He asked the two, but only caused them to laugh harder.
"Max, we aren't getting married," Bexley laughed an patted the spot next to her, for him to sit "well, I'm not, Lydia is. Remember? Lydia and Alec are to be married"

"I thought so, but, I wasn't sure" the boy scrunched his brows.

Lydia took out her phone, then mumbled something about talking to Bexley about details later, Before walking out.

"Bexie?"
"Yes, knuckles?"
"Do you love Jace?" He tipped his head to the side, his Lightwood blue eyes looking into Bexley's.

"What?" She blinked, thinking she heard wrong.
"Do you love Jace?" The Lightwood boy had grown up, watching other children have parents who sang to them, and tucked them in, and smiled, but max didn't have that.

The closest he had to that was Bexley, she had been determined to make the boy smile and laugh and feel love, to fall asleep to lullabies and bedtime stories.
And Jace, he always made Bexley smile, not like Isabelle or alec or even max made her smile, but something about it was different. And Jace always made Bexley happy.

"Of course I love Jace" Bex answered carefully "I love Iz and Alec and you, too, knuckles"

"No. I don't mean like that" the raven haired boy rolled his eyes "I mean, do you love him? Like the way Alec and Lydia love each other? Like mom and dad are suppose to love each other" he looked at Bexley with wide, hopeful eyes, that broke the girls heart "like Jace loves you?"

"Max, I don't think Jace loves me like that" Bexley strokes the boys hair, trying to hide the sadness in her eyes. She failed miserably, as the young boy saw the pain as clear as the the pale blue if her eyes.
"Don't be silly, Boopsie," the nickname made the girls heart melt, as he rarely used it anymore, but when he did, she knew, it was just out of habit and love. "Of course he does. He told me so. Jace doesn't lie to me"

"Knuckles," Bex began to try and explain, but was cut off by Max making a 'shush' sound and grabbing her hand, dragging her towards the library.

"Jace told me he loves you" Max said, stopping at the large oak doors of the library.

"Mom wants to see you" Max announced, before skipping off.

Bexley looked at the doors anxiously, she knew what was coming, a silent brother was her to see her. It has taken quite a lot of arguing to get Maryse to call upon a brother to come, instead of her going into the city of bones.

Little did the girl know, that on the other side of the thick doors, an enraged Jace stood in front of Mayrse's desk, arms crossed, jaw set.

"Jace, this isn't up to you"
"I don't care if you think it's up to me or not. Every time one of the silent brothers gets close to Bexley, she ends up hurt! I won't allow this!"

"Hey, M- whoa... What's going on here?" Bexley walked in, her eyes flicking between the head of the institute, Jace and finally the silent brother.

Involuntary, the young girl took a small step back, away from the silent brother, before composing herself.

"Hey there. How's the weather in hell?" She laughed nervously.
"Raz, you don't have to do this. I can walk you out of this room right now. The brothers have no right, or reason, to force you" Jace walked over to stand protectively in between his best friend and the silent brother. "And neither does Maryse. Despite what she thinks"

"Jace, this is for her own good"
"I say this with respect, Maryse, but could you give us a minute?" Jace practically yelled, turning to face the older woman, who then set her jaw and stiffly walked out.

'I mean her no harm. If she wishes to walk out, I do not wish to force her. The silent brother spoke again.

Jace walked over to Bexley, standing incredibly close.

"Bexley," the Wayland boys voice was barely audible "you don't have to do this. But if you want to, I'll be right here. I won't let you get hurt again"
It was clear to anyone watching, that those simple words from Jace made a good deal of the stiffness leave the girls form. The worry left her eyes.

"I know" her voice was just as quite as his.

What will it be?
It was clear that the silent brother had spoken only In Bexley's head, as she jumped and  hadn't even heard it.

"Jeez, man! Could you not? The only voice I want in my head is mine!" The blond girl moved to face the silent brother.

Apologies. But, alas, I do need the answer.

"Right here?" Bexley turned her head to look at Jace.
"Right here" he confirmed.
"The whole time?" This time, the boy didn't reply, he just took the girls hand in his own, giving her a small smile.

That was all she needed.

"Okay. I'll, do it. But only to prove I'm fine. Not because I want to. But because I want everyone to stop bothering me"
