A/N- double update, for all you noodles! And a third coming your way!
I was walking up the steps to the institute.
I walked slowly, knowing that Jace and Izzy were already home, I had taken over an hour to get a latte and write my report for Hodge. Simon and I had been texting the whole time.
I shouldered my way through the doors and went straight to where I knew would find hodge. The training room.
"Hey, Bex" Hodge stopped punching the bag when I walked in.
"Hey" I absentmindedly greeted, wandering around the room.
"What's up? You feeling okay?"
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine. I've got the reports" I extended my arm that held the papers.
"Good," he shuffled through them "look, I know it's a hard time coming up and all, with your-"
"Hodge, it's not a big deal, okay?"
"But it is! It's your birthday, and I know how much you hate it, but why not try and enjoy it this year?""Hodge, can we not? Please? It's not the time to throw a party"
"Okay, okay," he raised his hands in defeat "oh! Jace! Great timing!"
I turn my head to see Jace walking towards us.
"What's up, hodge?"
"I was thinking you could show Bexley what I taught you earlier today?" Hodge asked and Jace looked over, smirking, at me.
"Sure, that could be fun" he answered.Hodge patted Jace's shoulder and walked out of the room, leaving Jace and I alone.
"Hows the weather over there?" I try to break the tension. Well, there really wasn't any, with Jace, it was just me.
"Grab a seraph blade"••••••••••
"You wanna spar?" Jace asked, we had practiced a new technique on taking someone's blade away, for an hour. We were now sitting down, getting a drink, Jace next to me.
"What? Oh, sure" I put my phone down, I had been texting with Simon. As soon as I put it down and got up, Jace still sitting, the screen lit up with Simons name.
"Why is the mundane texting you?" Jace sounded a bit hurt.
"We're friends. Plus, why does it matter to you?" My words surprised me, I never questioned Jace on why something about me mattered to him. And it upset him.
"What do you mean 'why does it matter to me?' It matters because I care about what your doing and if you could get hurt"We had some how ended up on the mat, blades in hand.
"That's not what I meant, Jace. I meant why wouldn't Simon text me. And I can handle myself" I made the first move, moving towards him, and swinging my blade at his leg, he deflected it."You can handle yourself? You haven't been doing a great job of it" our argument got heated real fast, as did our sparing match.
"What does that mean?"
I swung to his left and when he went to block, I took advantage of the shift in his weight by sweeping his leg out from under him.
"It means you have been pretty careless lately"
He was up, taking a uppercut swing"I have not!"
I block it, following up with a roundhouse kick to his head, but he caught me by the ankle.
"Really? What about almost getting kidnapped?"
He used my foot to flip me, causing me to fly across the mat, loosing my blade, yet rolling into a crouch.
"Yeah, well, it's not like I planed that. And what about you? Your pretty careless, too" I launched myself at him, wrapping my arms around his waist, taking him to the mat with me."Me?" He Tried pinning me down. As he lost his own blade in the fall.
"Yes, you!" I used his own weight to flip us over, but ended up rolling off him and getting to my feet.
"You haven't been all that worried with your own safety, Jace! I get it, Protect the ones you care about, even if it means your own death" I snarled. we both had our blades in hand again.
"But that doesn't mean to go searching for every chance to get killed!" I continued as He charged at me, full force
"Really? What about going into the city of bones when you knew what happened last time!" Swings and blows were being made, our swords clanked together, legs kicking and punches flying.
