After Jody and I spent three hours getting ready for the party, it was time to leave. We were taking my truck and Josh was going to meet us there. Josh wasn't going to come at first but then he said he wanted to be there for me. I liked how even though we dated for a while it was like nothing happened between us, everything was back to normal. Hopefully this party would make my depression go away, after losing my Grandmother my depression was like a rocket.
"I'm going to go get us some drinks." Jody told me when we got there.
I stood there by myself trying to get my mind off of my Grandmother. Nothing was working though so of course the tears came falling down. Right there in the middle of the party, what a killer. Everyone was probably laughing at me as I walked away from the crowd.
"Watch where you're going..." Johnny trailed off when I ran into him.
"Sorry." I mumbled and began walking away again.
"Don't walk away from me again, please."
"Why? What do you want from me?" I asked, fed up.
"What do I want? Me? Oh, I wonder." Johnny grabbed my arm and pulled me even further away from the crowd.
"Look, I don't have time for this. I have Jody and Josh waiting for me."
"No, I want you to listen to me for a minute." I stood there waiting for him to start talking. "I'm tired of walking around school like we don't know each other. I'm tired of walking around like you never meant nothing to me. I'm tired of seeing you hide your face from me when you see me."
"Well, you shouldn't have walked away from me that day. Things might have turned out differently."
"Don't blame this on me.."
"Tara, are you okay?" Josh asked from behind me.
"Yeah, I'll be over there in a minute." I brushed him off, I wanted to hear what Johnny had to say to me. "Go on." I told Johnny.
"Don't try to blame this on me. If you hadn't of chose him over me none of this would be happening. Just think, I could be telling you every hour of every day telling you that I love you. I could be holding you in my arms everyday but you walked away from me. You left me in the dust for him."
I just stood there in front of him, dumbfounded. I didn't know what to say to that, I was at a loss for words.
"So, before you go and blame me think about that. Oh wait and the thing about you proving something to my sister. Was she that important? You..you are the reason I never told you how I felt about you. I hope you regret every damn second of it but I bet you don't. I hope that every damn time you close your eyes you wish that you were with me, like I wish I was with you. I hope that everytime you're with my brother you think of me. I hope that every time you're in his arms, you wish you were in mine."
"Brother?" I asked.
"Oh." He laughed. "You mean Josh didn't tell you?"
"Tell me what?"
"That we're brothers but he didn't want anyone to know about me. Especially you. That's why when I moved here I wore my jacket all the time, he didn't want someone to think that he had a 'weirdo' in his family. He warned me to stay away from you when I first moved here. But when I met you, I just couldn't stay away. You thought your boyfriend was perfect didn't you?" He smirked.
"He warned you to stay away from me? And he's not my boyfriend anymore." I replied.
"Yeah, Josh should know that I told you. Josh! Come over here, brother."
