When I looked around from kissing Johnny, I felt like everyone was looking at us. I mean, I don’t think they were but it sure did feel like it. I looked around again and finally found what made me feel like everyone was looking at me, my dad was standing there with some of his buddies from work. Shit, I just knew he was going to come over here and blow up. He was going to cuss Johnny out and kick me out of the house.
“What is it?” Johnny asked, close to my ear.
“My dad just seen us.” I whispered, too scared to talk in a normal tone.
“Oh...well...here he comes.” Johnny was getting kind of nervous but he didn’t want to show it so he stood tall.
“What are you doing, Tara?” Dad asked me.
“Um, nothing.” I was terrified.
“I thought we talked?”
“I know, I’m…”
I was going to say sorry but I wasn’t. I needed to fight for what I wanted. I couldn’t let my dad run my life forever. I looked over at Johnny and he had a look on his face that showed me he knew I was going to drop him. I wasn’t going to do that though, I wasn’t that type of person.
“Daddy, I know we talked but this is what I want. Please, just let me do what I want. If I get hurt again, it’s on me. I know you don’t want me to get hurt and honestly I don’t think I will.”
“Johnny, I want you at the house this evening at 6. We need to talk.”
“Yes sir.”
Johnny’s POV:
To say I was shocked when Tara’s dad told me to come over would be an understatement. I was a little scared to go talk to him though, I didn’t know what to tell him. I didn’t know how to talk to the dad of the girl that I had left so many months ago. This man was going to eat me alive for hurting his daughter the way I did. I had a feeling Thomas was going to be there too and he was definitely coming for blood. I don’t think my face could take another beating like that. I’m surprised I didn’t have a broken nose from Josh.
I had went home and showered before going over to Tara’s place. I was a nervous wreck, what was I going to do when they told me to leave and never come back? When I pulled up at her house, Tara’s dad and Thomas were both on the porch talking to each other. They looked up quickly when I shut the door on my car. As I walked up on the porch, Josh walked out onto the porch. He looked at me like he wanted to pounce on me again.
“Well, talk. Tell me why you came back here after all those months.” Thomas spoke first.
“I..I couldn’t take being away from her.”
“Then why leave in the first place?”
“I done it for her.”
“What do you mean you did it for her?” Josh asked.
“I thought I was helping her, I wasn’t going to be in her way anymore. I thought she wanted you and I didn’t want to hold her back from what she really wanted. I thought with me gone everything would be fine. I thought she would be with you and forget all about me. There were so many times, I packed up all of my stuff and I was going to come back. I would get halfway here then turn around. I didn’t want to ruin everything.”
“Then why are you here now?” Her dad asked.
“I love that girl. There’s no denying it. I love that girl and I told her that I’d spend the rest of my life trying to prove that to her.”
“Listen, I will allow you to see my daughter but if you do one thing to hurt her, Josh will be outside of your house.”
“I don’t doubt that a bit.” I told him.
