Taralyn’s POV:
Josh and I were talking again since the other day when his mom came up to me in the grocery store. Josh told me that if he had to pick a song to describe how he had been it’d be Jack Daniels by Eric Church and that bothered me. He had been drinking a lot a while back and that’s how he described it. I didn’t want to see someone that I was so close to drink all the time. I didn’t want to see him ruin his life by drinking all the time, it just wasn’t worth it.
I had told Johnny that I was talking to Josh again and surprisingly he was fine with it. It was like he was forgiving his brother for what he did to him, he didn’t care that he had made him lie. I just didn’t understand any of it. When Thomas heard that I was talking to him again, he was beyond mad. He told me that I didn’t need to talk to him after what he did to me. He knew that I couldn’t just leave Josh in the dust like that though, he knew I would always be there for Josh.
Today Johnny and I were going out to eat at a new Mexican restaurant and I was pretty excited. We had asked Josh to go but he told us that he’d catch up with us later. I knew that it was going to be kind of awkward between those two but I was hoping that it wouldn’t. Johnny was still acting like nothing had happened and Josh knew that he had been in the wrong before. I was hoping that everything would be going back to normal soon though.
“You ready?” Johnny asked me when I walked outside the house.
“Yep, yep.” I smiled.
“You look a little more country today.” Johnny laughed as we walked to the car.
I looked down at myself, I had on a pair of blue jeans, a red v-neck shirt and boots. I laughed at myself because I hadn’t realized that I looked ‘more country’.
“Is that a bad thing?” I asked.
“No, surprisingly country looks good on you.”
People did find it a little weird that I was hanging out with him just because of the outfit difference. He wore skinny jeans with vans and a v-neck shirts. So, that was a little different from who they usually see me with. My parents saw the difference too, surprisingly, they never noticed anything else.
Johnny and I walked inside the restaurant and the smell took over. It smelt amazing in that place. Johnny must have thought so too because he was sniffing too. I couldn’t help but to laugh at him when he was doing it, he had the weirdest face. After we got our seats we began talking about stuff.
“So, why didn’t Josh come?” Johnny asked.
“I don’t know, he said he’d catch up with us later.”
“Uh-huh.”
“Yeah, I guess he’s still kind of weird acting since all the stuff that happened.”
“Mhmm. I just want to move pass that. He’s my brother, I don’t want anything to come between us.”
“Why are you so quick to forgive him?”
“He’s my brother.”
“Well, yeah. But he made you lie and say that you were his cousin, simply because of the way you dressed.”
“Okay.”
I wasn’t really satisfied with that answer but I didn’t want to push the subject any more than I already had. Johnny just sat there looking at his menu trying to figure out what to eat. It was one of those restaurants where everything sounded delicious. I just wanted to order everything that I seen on the menu.
“I got a job today.” I told Johnny while we ate.
He looked up at me and began smiling like he didn’t believe me.
“I really did.” I smiled.
“Where at?”
“My dad’s friend’s shop.”
“Like a shop to work on cars?”
“Yeah.” I smiled. “Then some days I’m going to go help Thomas at the meat shop once it gets to be deer season since they’ll be busy.”
“That’s pretty hot.”
“What?”
“You working on cars.”
I laughed at him and continued eating.
“So, when do you start?” Johnny asked.
“Monday after school.”
“I think I’ll have to come by one day and watch you work on some vehicles.” Johnny grinned goofily at me.
Johnny was one of the craziest people I think I had ever met. He wasn’t afraid to tell you what he thought about you, good or bad. He could be the sweetest person that you’d ever want to meet. Johnny was definitely one of my favorite people to be around. I found it annoying at first when he was everywhere I was when we first met but now I’d be lost if he wasn’t there.
“I had fun tonight.” Johnny smiled as we walked to my house.
“Me too.”
When we were about to the house Johnny tripped over something and fell down in the yard. He went face first when he fell and I couldn’t help but to burst out into a fit of laughter. Johnny, on the other hand, wasn’t very amused.
“Haha, that was so funny.” Johnny mocked like a mad little two year old.
“I’m sorry, are you okay?”
“I could have been killed and you’d be laughing.”
“Maybe for the first ten seconds.” I joked.
Johnny tried to hold a mean glare but then walked over to where I was standing and laughing. He kissed me on my lips gently and smiled as he done so.
Johnny’s POV:
Damn, that girl sure was something else. She was definitely a joy to be around. Honestly, if we never became anything more than friends, I’d be fine. I knew that she would always be there for me. I’d love for her to become my girlfriend because I knew that she’d be an amazing one. There was no way she felt the same way about me; that was just impossible. Yeah, we kissed and all but that was nothing. She would never feel what she felt towards Josh towards me.

I hate that it’s been so long. I’ve just had no motivation. Earlier this week one of my English teachers passed away and through his passing, it reminded me that I need to keep writing. He was such an inspirational man and I’m sad to see that he’s gone <3.
