Johnny and I spent the night at the lake just catching up. I missed talking to him about anything and everything. I felt like I hadn't talked to him in a million years. The whole time I was there though I thought about what Josh had done. I wanted to know why he didn't want me to know about Johnny.
"Before we leave.." Johnny trailed off into throwing me into the water again.
He came in after he threw me in and when I popped up out of the water, he pulled me over to where he was. He leaned down and pressed his wet lips onto my wet lips.
"That's one of the things I missed the most." Johnny smiled.
He placed his hand on the lower half of my back and pulled me closer to him. He licked his lips then looked down at mine, like he was asking for permission this time. He slowly moved in to kiss me until we heard someone coming down to the lake.
"Shit, Johnny. I'm in my bra." I whisper-yelled.
"Shut up, it's your brother!" He whisper-yelled back.
"No fucking way."
"Just whatever you do don't get out of this water." Johnny told me.
"Tara! Is that you?" Thomas asked.
"Yeah, it's me."
Johnny looked absolutely terrified and it made me terrified.
"Jody told me that this is where I could find you. But if you're okay then I'll leave."
"I'm fine Thomas."
"Ya'll are in there half naked, it better not go any further than that. If I find out that ya'll did anything besides swim, I will kill you Johnny and Tara you will never leave the house without me again." Thomas told us. "And Tara I need to talk to you when you get home, whenever that is. If it's too late when you get home I'll talk to you tomorrow. I'll see ya'll later."
"Well, that was awkward." Johnny told me once Thomas walked away.
"You don't say." I laughed.
I looked over at him and his hair was freely falling into his face. I pushed it out of his face and wrapped my arms around his neck without even realizing it.
"We better be getting out of here and put some clothes on before someone else comes." Johnny told me.
"I want to just sit here and talk." I told him after we got dressed.
"Okay, sure."
Johnny and I stayed at the lake a little while talking, that is until he began dozing off.
"Johnny, wake up. We need to be leaving before you fall asleep."
"Let's just stay right here tonight." He mumbled in his half asleep state.
I smiled and decided to let him sleep for a while then we'd leave. I opened my eyes and seen that the sun was coming up over the lake. Johnny and I both flew up from where we were and literally ran to his car. He still had to take me by to get my truck.
Josh's POV:
I knew I should have told her a long time ago, I just didn't know how to. I wish that I had of now though because now she hates me. She thinks that I was never really her best friend. The truth was that she was my best friend and I hers but she can't see that now. I don't know why I didn't want her to know about Johnny, I know she wouldn't have judged me about it. I guess, I just seen him as a threat.
I had to take my mom to town today to get groceries since her car was currently broke down. If I had of known who I was going to run into I don’t think I would have taken her. As soon as we walked into the store there stood Tara. When I seen her I automatically felt guilty. I wanted to go tell her exactly how sorry I was but I knew she didn’t want to hear it. When she seen me she turned away but as soon as she did that my mom seen her.
“Oh, look! There’s Taralyn.” She smiled and started walking over to where Tara stood.
I slowly walked behind her, thinking that maybe my mom would have been done said hi by the time I got to them. That didn’t happen though because mom decided to start a whole damn conversation. I didn’t want to stand there not saying anything and let my mom catch on to the whole thing. She knew about me saying that Johnny was my cousin but she didn’t know that Tara knew about it.
“How have you been, Tara? You haven’t been over in a while.” Mom spoke.
Tara looked awkwardly up at me and I knew that she was even more mad then what I thought.
“I’ve been good. I’ve been a little busy. I’ve been helping my dad in the shop.” She smiled.
“Oh, well I’m glad to hear that. Josh, I’ll be over here.” Then mom walked away and left Tara and I together.
“So, um, how have you been?” I asked.
“I’ve been okay, how have you been?” She replied.
“Well, if I were to pick a song to describe it, it’d be Jack Daniels.”
She already knew the song and immediately she looked at me a little worried.
“You’ve been drinking like you use to?”
“Yeah, just a little.”
“Josh, please don’t do that to yourself.”
“It’s kind of hard not to, I mean I did lose my best friend. I lost you just because I was being selfish. I never wanted any of this to happen.”
“I’m still here. I’m not going anywhere, yeah, I am pissed that you did that. I’m pissed that you lied to me but I could never walk away from you. You’ve been my best friend for forever.”
That made my day like a million times better than it was before I walked into the store. As I stood there looking at her after she said that, she smiled at me. She smiled her real smile one that she meant, that wasn’t fake.
“I promise, I won’t keep anything from you ever again.”
“You don’t have any more siblings I don’t know about, right?” She laughed.
“No, not that I know of.” I laughed back at her.
I was hoping that things would just magically get better now that I had her back. I knew that I was going to have to work for her trust though.

I know I haven’t updated in a while and I’m soooo sorry. I have been writing though, trust me.
On the Brightside though, I got a new laptop and it’ll be easier for me to update now. I couldn’t write before when I would stay the night somewhere. Like the day after Christmas I’ll be leaving to go to Tennessee for a few days and I wasn’t going to be able to write but now I can! :]
