"Ling Qi, you are charged with murder, but with insufficient evidence and under the appeal and complaint of the special circumstances. That this trial will be considered as a mistrial and there will be continuance 3 days from now. You will be placed under probation till the case comes to an end. Are we clear Dr. Qi?"

"Yes, I understand." I was relieved this result was far better than I could have hoped.

Then all of a sudden a huge explosion sound came from the outside, shaking the entire room.

"What's going on?" the judge asked one of the officers who came rushing in.

"Your honor we need to evacuate this place at once!" the people in the room erupted like a volcano towards the main exit. But the door wouldn't budge. Someone must have melted the locks on the other side.

"Order, order!" the judge slammed his hand against his table. And everyone backed away from the door.

"What's happening outside officer?"

"It appears that we are under attack."

"How?" the judge asked.

Before the officer could say anything, purple fumes descended from all possible entrances. I was panicking but I didn't show it. It could be tear gas, it could be something much worse...

"Stay away from the door!" yelled an officer. Too late one of them inhaled it and he instantly dropped to the ground like a dead weight, face stricken in horror. Everyone backed into the center of the room, but we were like a bunch of sitting ducks, no it was even worse we were like sheep in a wolf den, our death would only be a matter of time. Then I tried holding my breath for the longest time my life. The average time a human could live without breath is 3 min, I could go for 6, but I had no clue when the gas will go away. So my odds of survival was bad. Then I saw Silk...she was pushed into the gas by the crowd. I wanted to scream but that would mean drawing breath and I didn't dare. And all I could do was watch her die. Knowing mine would soon follow, but against my survival instinct I called out:

"SILK!" she turned and looked at me one last time and smiled, then she hit the ground hard. That moment I realized how much I missed her personality, her flirt...what more could I say?

I was in the back of the crowd, my hands were cuffed, but I still managed to get out of the defendant box. No one paid attention to me. I found a pin on the ground and I began picking my cuffs. Then my gaze stopped abruptly. In front of my eyes I saw Yumi lying on the ground, she had a calm look on her face...that made me sad unimaginably sad. So young...at least she died a peaceful death. She came to this court to defend me, and to die for it? Dying for me is not acceptable!... much less it was worth it. Why is there death, everywhere I go? CURSES!

I was free of my cuffs, then Charlotte smiled at me, and reaching out towards me...but it was too late, she fell to the ground...like a dying rose, ever so elegant and beautiful even at the end...I didn't want this to be the end. I dashed to her, and rested her head on my knee, I didn't care if I was breathing in poisonous gas or not, death was just a matter of time. I wanted to use my time wisely. I did not like her personality, I highly disliked the way she spoke, and hated her most for dying on me. Tears poured down my cheeks for the first time in decades, why did everything I like--no love slip away from me? WHY GOD? WHY? People around me all dropped in matters of seconds, except for me knees on the ground and staring at the ceiling, for minutes probably. Bad things happened to good people, but...Charlotte was innocent, if there was anyone who deserved a second life, it would have to be her.

"See all of you in the afterlife, if there is one." I closed my eyes and drifted off to the most comfortable sleep in my life. At last I joined her.
