Walking around in Chicago again felt weird. What was even weirder was being on the streets holding hands with Anthony Kiedis. I didn't think of him as Anthony Kiedis: Lead Singer of famous rock group, The Red Hot Chili Peppers; he was just Anthony to me.
Speaking of which.. Anthony bought us both cardboard cups of peppermint hot chocolate. He decided I would be guiding him around the city on a personal tour before the show started.
I took Anthony to the Lincoln Park Conservatory, remembering it as a favorite from my childhood.
It's basically this big giant dome thing, with flowers inside. Cliche, I know...
Anthony was absolutely stunned by it. He thought is was beautiful and he's stop at every blossom and smell it. Then he'd kiss me and say, "God Lilly, today is perfect."
We walked along a little further, and passes a fountain in the middle of a collection of giant pink flowers. I began to walk past, but Anthony grabbed my arm and pulled me on his lap as he sat on the edge.
"Not so fast kitty."
He wrapped his arms around my tummy as we sat and watched people go by, the occasional bee fly by, and the spurts of water from the fountain. I was wearing the typical 90s outfit. High waisted jeans, cropped black sweater, Nike sneakers and sunglasses resting on my head. Anthony seemed to really like when you could see my belly, as he would touch it all the time and say, "You have such a cute belly, Lilly! I'm not even sure how that's possible, but it is!"
Anthony rested his head on my shoulder blade, as he traced the skin on my fingers. I felt so at peace with him.
"Lilly?"
"Yeah?"
"What do you honestly think of our relationship?"
What did I think? Oh man...
"That it's real."
I felt Anthony laugh, and then kiss me softly.
"I really care about you, Bugs."
"I care about you too A.K."
Anthony sighed happily, and then picked me up bridal style as he stood up.
He put me back down and then held my hand tightly as we continued walking through the conservatory.
A few minutes later, we arrived in the gift store. Anthony insisted on buying me something, even though I protested again and again.
He walked with me around the store as we tried to find something to buy. When we made it to the clothing section, I had made up my mind. I picked up a big sweatshirt with the "Chicago" printed on it in graffiti lettering.
Anthony just laughed as I hugged the soft material happily. We kept walking through the store, keeping an eye out for any other trinkets. I was about to ask if we could just check out, but Anthony stopped at the jewelry section and picked up a necklace.
"Look, Lilly."
In his hand on a long leather chain, was a white lily pendant. He smiled proudly at it, showing me it was only four dollars.
"I'm going to buy it and wear it every day."
I laughed and kissed his cheek, "Then I'll think about you every day."
He smiled at me, a smile full of love. Butterflies exploded in my stomach, and I knew I had fallen for Anthony.
*****
On our way back to the hotel, Anthony decied we would just walk instead of taking a cab since the conservatory was relatively close. He had already put on the long necklace and smiled every time I looked at it.
We had been walking for a while when someone called out Anthony's name in a loud, masculine voice.
Anthony turned his head around, only to snap it back in place. He seemed a little angrier than last time.
"Paparazzi."
I didn't say anything, because I didn't know what to say. I'd never been chased by paparazzi before.
Anthony held my hand tighter as we picked up our pace. I turned my head back once to see not only one, but two men carrying cameras and following us at a brisk pace. They were snapping pictures of Anthony and I, and trying to get us to answer.
"Come on, Lilly, we have to run."
No, please, no running?!
Anthony kissed my hand and then took off at a jog with me right at his side. We made it to the hotel quickly, and Anthony had security escort the men away from us.
I laughed at what had just happened, and simply kissed Anthony's cheek.
We went back up to our hotel room, where we'd spend the next hour or two before we'd have to leave for the arena.
I was laying on the bed with Anthony talking, when the phone rang.
"I'll get it!" He said sitting up quickly.
I sat up and watched him pick up the land line, "Anthony Kiedis speaking..."
He sounded like such a dork, but he looked so cute on the phone.
"Lilly, it's for you."
