Chapter 23 ~Big Brother Talk~

Beck's POV

~ We stood there looking back and forth with each other. All that Carolyn said was, "uh..." as the silence continued.

Tracey let his arm down from his girlfriend's side and paced toward us. I flinched waiting to get hit. I'm dead...dead meat.

Carolyn's brother walked slowly toward us. His feet dragging on the carpet, made a noise with the reticent hallway. His hands were clinched into fists. The hallway behind him seemed more narrow as he moved in more closer. I'm done. This is it.

Her brother shoved pass me, hitting  my shoulder with his. His arms grabbed Carolyn and they wrapped around her. My face was dazed and confused. He turned Carolyn around, so now he was facing me. His face lifted up from her shoulder. Carolyn's arms were still out as the hug was unexpected.

"It's great to see my little sister again," Tracey spoke. His eyes shot a deadly glare toward my way. I lifted my hands up in a 'what the hell' gesture. He thought I was trouble? I don't want him to hate me. Great, could this day get any worse. Carolyn was breaking down because of something. I smelled death in the hallway when I came up. Whoever or whatever was after her now wasn't friendly. Then I can't make admins with the girl I care about's brother. My hand hit my forehead as the thoughts compressed on my mind.

"Come on I want you to meet someone," Carolyn's brother shoot another glare at me as he walked toward his girlfriend. Carolyn was dragged from beside me. I just stood there, not interfiring.

"Carloyn this is Charlotte, my girlfriend. Charlotte this is my sister Carolyn," He said as he intruduced them together.

"Very nice to meet you. Tracey talked so much about you," Charlotte said reaching for Carolyn's hand. Carolyn reached out to return the favor.

"It's nice to meet you too," Her smile made me melt. "I hope Tracey is treating you well. He can be heartless at times," Carolyn laughed as she shook hands.

"Hey! I am not!" Tracey said inturrupting.

"Honey, sometimes you are. You left our dog alone because you forgot to call the sitter when we were coming here." Charlotte smiled and chuckled.

"Yeah and you broke my doll!" Carolyn piled on. The girls snickered as Tracey grabbed his face in defeat.

"Oh, come on stop picking on me," Tracey complained.

"You know I love you," Charlotte went up and kissed his cheek. Tracey lifted his face up and smiled. He kissed Charlotte on the lips.

"I love you too."

"O.k O.k, stop it your in my presences here now. I want you guys to meet someone too," Caolyn said breaking them apart. She walked toward my still confused body. Tracey and Charlotte followed her lead.

"This is Sha- Beck," She stumbled her word as they apporched me. I forgot for a second that I was her Shadow. She almost said my wolf name. That would be more awkward to explain why my parents named me after a type of darkness. Carolyn even told me she after I explained who I was, she had to repeat the names in her head so she wouldn't mix me up with my wolf.

"Very nice to meet you Beck,"Charlotte spoke to me. I nodded agreeing to the favor. I grabbed her hand and shoke her hand.

"Yeah, a real pleasure," Tracey growled. His hand knocked out Charlotte's as he grasped mine now. His tighting grip kept getting stronger. He wasn't happy with me.

His hand stood in a tight hold for awhile. The girls looked at each other with confusion. What was he mad about me doing?

His face was crunched up in anger. His beady eyes shot through mine.

"O.k.... Let's go in now," Carolyn said. Tracey snapped out of his trans. Charlotte grabbed Tracey's arm and pulled him away from me. Carolyn slid beside me. Charlotte dragged him into Carolyn's apartment.

"What was that about?" Carolyn whispered. She held my hand tightly trying to give me encouragement.

I sighed and went down to Carolyn's height, "I have no idea."

"Well, let's embrace it," She kissed my cheek and then I was the one who was dragged into the apartment.

As I walked in Carolyn's hand slid away from mine as she walked toward Charlotte. I shut the open door behind me. Carolyn's place was decorated in warm colors. The day outside felt amazing and this scene before me made today more special. It was spetacular because Carolyn was with me today. She's the one who made this day special. Just seeing her face light up made my heart beat increase. I know she's not my mate... I was angry when I kissed her and a mark didn't show up. If you kiss a mate your mark shows up on their neck and your mate has to be a wolf. If your with someone whose not your mate like a human and your in love, you have to have sex with that person for that mark to appear. I'm very careful to stay away from other girls, but Carolyn is different.  The human and wolf will be bonded forever. To become a true mate your human must follow this ritual. But I'm scared for Carolyn.... the ritual was just in fairy tails that I read when I was younger. I don't even know if it truly exists. I never met or heard anyone completing this. I won't give up though. I don't know why I feel a spark, but I do. Its all her and I'm not handing her over.

I jumped as I realized my thoughts consumed me. Tracey was right in front of me, again glaring. My heart stopped as he scared me coming over. I was tough, but a woman I care about has a brother who hates me. That wasn't could. If I wanted to be with Carolyn I will have to make ties with her brother too.

"What were you so in deep thought about? Better not be about my sister," he threatened.

"Umm... no?" I questioned wanting to know why that was a bad.

"Come with me. Let's have a talk," Tracey said while walking toward the living room. I breathed in deep and followed. I will try to fix this.

We stopped near the corner of the T.V. The girls were still chatting away in the kitchen. Tracey drew closer up to where he breathed on me.

"Listen if you ever hurt my sister, you'll pay," He snarled through his teeth. "She been through alot and you are not what she needs. A bad boy type, please, I take you down."

His words stung me. I'm protecting Carolyn. I wouldn't do anything to hurt her. My heart sunk thinking about what was going to happen in the future. I couldn't live with myself if she got hurt by Vincent. I can't let that happen.

"I won't lay a finger on her. She's special to me," I smiled at my words. She was my angel. " I know alot has happened to her and someday I want to be the person that she opens her heart to. You don't have to give me the big brother talk. I'll make sure she's safe and ready to be with her family each day."

His hand unclenched. His face softened up and looked down at the floor. His hair fell over his face.

"Do you love her?"

"I-I never.. um. thought about that," I nervously said. Love? Do I love a human? I care so deeply, but- but love?

I looked over to where she was standing. She was laughing and smiling. Her face glowed with happiness. Her presence warm my heart. I know she needs protection, but somehow she makes me feel safe.

Love? Maybe...

My shirt was grabbed and my eyes were shot back at Tracey.

"You better!"

Then he releases my shirt and it ringled back in place. I stood there with heavy breathing as Tracey left to see the girls. I chuckled under my breathing

"Looks like he's a very loyal brother. I respect him." I wiped my mouth and joined the others. I may have been yelled at today, but at least I know how I feel about my Angel.
