~Chapter 1~
Amethyst P.O.V
Amethyst cursed her cheap alarm clock as she cooked breakfast faster than she ever had before. She had 10 minutes until the pack woke up. She shuddered thinking if the last time she didn’t finish on time.
It was pretty hard to forget a beating that made her unconscious for a week.
She was just finishing setting the table when she remember it was her fourteenth birthday. She felt joy bubble up inside her as she realized that she would be able to recognize her mate. She was sure that after today, her life would only get better. She will finally be able to feel loved, appreciated, and wanted. She was excited about meeting the boy who would take her away from all the pain. She was sure that he would solve all her problems, filling her life with nothing but love and happiness. Females were always able to recognize their mate at the exact date of their birth. At exactly 10:35 today she would be able to tell if her mate was in the pack. She couldn’t help but feel hopeful for the future.
“What the hell are you still doing here? Get Out! Don’t you know all the nausea your ugly face causes?” Aiden, the pack’s beta, shouted at her as soon as he saw her. Her daydream quickly disappeared leaving her in the real world. One filled with pain, sadness, and self-hatred.
She felt her eyes well with tears as looked into his eyes. She remembered a time when her step-brother would help her, protect her, LOVE her.
How she wish she could go back in time. She wished she could change her mistake. Perhaps then, she would be treated like an equal. Perhaps, she would be a normal pack member, one who is treated with respect. Perhaps she would have been happy in this moment.
Perhaps her father would still be alive.
She was quickly snapped out of her thoughts as soon as she felt someone punch her in the stomach. She doubled over, wheezing in pain as his brother and his friends laughed at her. She had been too engrossed in her thoughts that she hadn’t seen her brothers’ friends come in.
There, standing in front of her were her brother’s best friends.
First, there was Noah, the third in command. He was the stereotypical jock/player. He had dark brown hair and green eyes. He spent most of his days with a girl wrapped around him. Then there was Cassandra, Aiden’s on-again off-again girlfriend. She was considered easy and spent most of her time in the janitor’s closet. She had light brown hair, blue eyes and was very curvy. She claimed to love Aiden, but everybody knew that her and Aiden were constantly cheating on each other. The other just pretended to not notice. She was one of Amethyst’s worst tormentors.
Finally, there was Lucas. He was the soon-to-be alpha of the Crimson Blood pack (the pack she is in). He had light brown hair, was muscular, but didn’t look like he was on steroids .He was the best looking guy in the pack and every girl knew it. He wasn’t very abusive towards Amethyst. He had never physically hurt her, only emotionally and even that was rare. He didn’t hurt her, but he never helped her either. He was always just standing there, watching as his friends and pack members hurt her. Surprisingly, he wasn’t a player either. He has had a few girlfriends, but nothing too serious. Over all, he wasn’t a bad guy.
Forgetting her pain, Amethyst quickly ran to her room to get ready for school. She was excited. She just knew today was going to be different…
***
As soon as Amethyst arrived, she spotted Katherine ,or Katie as she preferred to be called , her best friend. She had known Katie since before her father’s death. They had been classmates, but hadn’t truly been friends until 3 years ago when Katherine caught her in the bathroom crying. She had had a horrible day in school that day and the giant bruise in her forearm her brother gave her hadn’t helped. That was the only day she had been glad for receiving a beating if not for that, she would be completely lonely.
“Hey, Ames” said Katie while smiling “ready to meet your future baby daddy?”
Amethyst couldn’t help but laugh at her friends remark.
“Of course I am! I can’t wait to meet the man of my dreams”
Katie chuckled, “Don’t get too excited, he might not even be in this pack”
“ I Know, but one can only hope, right?”
Katie slung her arm over Amethyst’s shoulders as she laughed “Don’t worry I’m sure he’ll be here and you’ll watch as he punches everyone who has ever hurt you”
Amethyst just smiled as she walked inside school with her best friend.
One can only hope.
