Chapter 23

Amethyst’s P.O.V

I stood in front of the room next to Liam, Jenna, Josh, Amy, and Seth as Lucas introduced as to his Pack. I couldn’t help the feeling of disgust that overtook me as I scanned the faces of the people who betrayed me and gave me away as if I were nothing. I hated them, loathed them, despised them. I quickly closed my eyes and took a deep breath knowing it was almost my turn to introduce myself.

“I’m Josh, Liam’s Beta and best friend” Josh said, before moving back next to me. I took a step forward before introducing myself.

“And I’m Myst, Liam’s Third-in-Command” I said before going back. I knew they would eventually find out who I am, but now wasn’t the time. Besides, for all they knew, I was dead, and I’d rather keep it that way.

“I’m Amy, Josh’s twin, and best friend to Jenna and Myst” Amy said, with a small smile. Her smile was nothing compared to the sh*t-eating grin on Aiden’s face.  I guess Amy decided to give him a chance after all. Good for her.

“And I’m Seth. I’m  a Pack warrior and I am going to help Liam and Josh train you guys.”

After the introductions, Lucas stepped forward with a smile that didn’t quiet reach his eyes. “Now that the introductions are over, why don’t we all go over to the kitchen and celebrate the alliance of two strong Packs.”

I was barely able to stifle my snort. Two strong Packs? Doesn’t he mean one strong Pack and one pathetic, weak Pack? But of course the Alpha of this Pack was too proud to tell it how it is. Idiots.

I quickly followed my Pack towards the kitchen. I had to take deep breaths to keep a hold on my anger. The kitchen is the one the rooms that held my most painful memories. This is where most of my beatings occurred. This is where I had to every morning, cooking and cleaning for a Pack that did nothing but hurt me.

I felt a hand on my shoulder and quickly turned to see Josh smiling at me, his eyes full of compassion. I gave him a small smile and mouthed a thank you. He always knew how to help me control all my anger.

As I entered the kitchen, I couldn’t help but notice the small army of middle aged she-wolves cooking. When I was here I did everything all by myself and now they decide more than one person is needed? Well, I guess it’s for the best. I would’ve lost it if I found out they made someone take my place. Someone as innocent and fragile as I used to be.

As people began to fill their plates with the delicious-smelling food, I quickly sent put a small prayer to the Goddess.

Goddess, please give me the strength to not kill these b*stards.

“Myst, wake up! It’s time for school”

“Five more minutes” I mumbled, trying to ignore the annoying voice trying to keep me away from my pleasant dreams.

“Okay, but you asked for it” I heard before something heavy fell on top of me.

“Get off me!” I yelled out, annoyance clear in  my voice “Goddess, are you trying to suffocate me?”

“Geez, Myst, don’t be so dramatic. I don’t even weigh that much.” Jenna said, a small scowl on her face.

I rolled my eyes before getting up and heading towards my closet. Yesterday I picked out the perfect outfit for school. I was going to wear some short shorts that barely reached my mid-thigh, a loose white tank top, and my favorite pair of black boots (Outfit on the side).

As I finished applying mascara and lip-gloss, I saw Jenna enter the room.

“Hey, where’s Amy?” I asked her.

“She decided to go to school with her Mate so they can get to know each other better.” She said carefully while looking at me strangely. I frowned, confused at her reaction, until I finally got it.

“I’m not mad t her for giving him a chance, you know” I said “Actually, I told her to give him a chance.”

“So you’re not mad that she wants to be with him?”

“Look, what happened between Aiden and me, stays between Aiden and me. I don’t want Amy to reject him because of me because in the long run, she’ll hate me for it. Besides, as long as he makes her happy, I’m okay with it.” I answered honestly “But if he ever hurts her, then we’ll have a problem.”

Jenna chuckled. “Good, now that that’s all cleared up, let’s go before we’re late.”

I smiled as she wove our hands together, and dragged me towards her car.

“But what about my bike?” I asked her as she drove us towards school.

“You can show it off whenever you want” she said “besides, I don’t want to drive alone. It’s too lonely” she said, scrunching her nose in distaste.

“Glad to know I’m your second choice for when Liam isn’t with you” I said dryly.

She just winked at me and grinned. “You’ll never be second best, baby”

I couldn’t contain the laugh that erupted out of me. Even if it meant going through torture again, I wouldn’t change a thing about my life right now.
